About The Position

The Director of Engineering is responsible for leading a team of engineers in the execution of technical investigations, reporting, and client engagement. This role oversees project delivery, ensures adherence to scope and budget, and maintains high standards of technical accuracy and timeliness. The ideal candidate has an established network of clientele and is experienced with building, establishing, and maintaining rapport with this network. YA Engineering Services (“YAES”) is a national forensic multi-disciplinary consulting firm. YAES provides immediate response to new assignments, performs investigations in a timely manner, and provides comprehensive reports that are clear, concise, and backed by reasonable analyses and recommendations. YAES offers a team of highly qualified, technically excellent engineering professionals who work seamlessly together to service the needs of our clients in the model of an engineering cooperative. Please note that this position is not an IT or software engineering role. Candidates with backgrounds in civil/structural engineering, forensic investigations, or related disciplines are encouraged to apply. Candidates can be located anywhere in the United States.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required.
Active PE license required.
Minimum of 15 years of experience in forensic engineering.
Proven ability to write comprehensive technical reports on inspection results.
Must be able to walk up steps, climb ladders, walk on roofs for inspections, ride in a man lift for window surveys as needed, and hold various items like a tape measurer, iPad, etc.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage a team of engineers, providing hands-on mentorship across all phases of project execution; from site inspections and analysis to reporting and client engagement
Ensure project budgets and scope are timely communicated to clients and strictly adhered to.
Drive timely delivery of all project milestones, consistently meeting or surpassing established deadlines.
Coordinates with clients to set up site visits and complete deliverables on projects
Produces project reports that synthesize data collected from our onsite inspections with environmental factors, material properties, and engineering analysis to determine the most likely cause and scope of distress and failures to buildings and components.
Performs site visits to collect field data on residential and commercial properties.
Reviews and interprets the relevant building codes as necessary for issues pertaining to our scope of work.
Assist in business development activities. Work with business development representatives to attend conferences, events, dinners, lunches, when applicable, to promote the company and your personal capabilities.
Performs additional duties as assigned.
