About The Position

Under the direction of the General Manager, the Director of Engineering is responsible for implementing the preventative maintenance and energy conservation programs, supervising staff, and project management. This role involves troubleshooting operational problems, interpreting and complying with various instructions, and applying logical thinking to complex tasks. The position requires managing diverse tasks efficiently, supervising and directing staff to maintain hotel service standards, establishing work assignments and priorities, and supporting hotel philosophy regarding hiring, employee relations, supervision, and disciplinary action. The Director of Engineering will also assist in training, counseling, and disciplining staff, and interact courteously and professionally with guests, staff, and community members, responding rapidly to resolve difficulties. Attending training sessions is crucial for continued personal development, and other duties may be assigned as needed.

Requirements

  • Ability to create, implement, and monitor hotel and staff operating standards, procedures, and annual objectives.
  • Ability to train, motivate, evaluate, mentor, and direct employees.
  • Exceptional oral communication skills for negotiating and persuading guests and staff.
  • Ability to focus and maintain attention to task performance despite stressful interruptions.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience as an Operating Engineer or Trade Foreman with specialty training.
  • Supervisory experience required.
  • Must be able to legally work in the United States of America.
