As a Director of Engineering, you will be managing a high-performing engineering org consisting of 3-4 squads of engineers covering our product value streams from our HQ in El Segundo, CA. We have team members stretching from El Segundo to LATAM to central Europe. This role will report directly to our VP, Engineering. You will mentor, lead, and grow our team of software and infra engineers while operating effectively in a Series B environment—comfortable with ambiguity, lean process, and rolling up your sleeves into code, design reviews, or incident response when the situation calls for it.

Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills

  • A well developed people management philosophy for managers and engineers
  • Experience managing managers and engineers
  • Experience supporting enterprise customers (Fortune 500 or regulated industries) with high-touch deployments and uptime expectations
  • Experience leading distributed teams across multiple time zones (e.g., US plus Europe or LATAM)
  • Has directly owned performance management cycles, including coaching, leveling, and exiting underperformers
  • 10+ years of software engineering experience
  • 5+ years of leadership experience
  • 5+ years production operations experience
  • Strong debugging skills across distributed systems and microservices architectures

Responsibilities

  • Drive hiring strategy and close top engineering talent
  • Motivate and communicate across multiple levels of their department
  • Have successful peer partnerships with other department leaders in Engineering, and cross-functionally (product, sales, marketing, etc)
  • Partner closely with Product leadership to translate roadmap into executable engineering plans, including running prioritization and trade-off conversations
  • Development, measurement, and management of key metrics for team performance
