Requirements

  • BS/BA in a related discipline or equivalent years of experience preferred
  • Generally, 10+ years of experience in a related field is preferred
  • Prior managerial experience preferred
  • Network, SBE, and/or Project Management certification preferred
  • Valid driver's license, good driving record, and ability to provide proof of insurance with the company's required insurance limits.

Responsibilities

  • Model and lead a culture of empathy, customer service, and leadership.
  • Lead the research, design, installation, and repair of all television, digital, OTT, Internet Systems, high-power RF systems, production environments, and all associated equipment using current platforms and protocols.
  • Manage building facilities and grounds, including HVAC, power generation, and security systems.
  • Partner with the news department to develop, build, and support content workflow and support systems, including integration and problem-solving software, hardware, networking, and infrastructure, while facilitating a collaborative environment between newsroom and production control staff.
  • Motivate and manage a staff of professional and technical engineers, operators, and IT technicians.
  • Develop and grow staff in technology and Scripps culture to meet the ongoing and future technological needs of the station, and evaluate staff growth opportunities and assessments.
  • Establish and implement engineering policies and procedures.
  • Evaluate and maintain the spectrum and broadband usage of the facility.
  • Manage projects.
  • Plan, design, and document current and future broadcast and digital systems.
  • Collaborate with other departments to determine current and future studio, transmission, and workflow needs.
  • Prepare and track capital, expense, repair, and maintenance budgets.
  • Use the company's purchasing management system to purchase and track assets and services, as well as replacement cycles.
  • Evaluate equipment solutions.
  • Keep the station compliant with the FCC Rules and Regulations, as well as related local, state, and federal regulations.
