About The Position

Join the Engineering Management practice as Director of Engineering Management reporting to the Vice President Engineering Management, overseeing the portfolio of Class 3–5 opportunities and projects at AtkinsRéalis Canada in the Power & Renewables market (the “Portfolio”). Your role Manages the Engineering Management Portfolio Leads who perform the day-to-day operational activities on the Portfolio. Manage the assignment of resources to ensure that the responsibilities of the Engineering Management Practice are performed throughout the Portfolio in accordance with internal governance requirements. Collects, analyze and report on performance data emanating from the Engineering Management personnel assigned to projects within the Portfolio. Providing monthly senior peer review on the progress of projects within the Portfolio. Proactively work to resolve issues escalated from the Portfolio Leads and Engineering Managers assigned to projects within the Portfolio. Support the development of the Engineering Management Center of Excellence through active participation in workforce development. Identify and nominate appropriately qualified personnel to fill Engineering Management roles within the Portfolio. Provide technical guidance and expertise to project engineering teams within the portfolio. Promotes a Value Engineering culture throughout the project life cycle. Promote continuous improvement initiatives to enhance engineering processes, methodologies, and tools, driving efficiency and productivity. Actively participate in the role of Engineering Director on a major project.

Requirements

  • Is a professional engineer with 20 or more years of experience, having a solid understanding of Engineering and Design project lifecycles, able to establish scope and approach to optimize effort and ensure quality in the performance of mandates in the Portfolio.
  • Is an effective communicator and demonstrates exemplary collaboration with internal and external stakeholders in the management of the Portfolio, including communicator with Clients, cross-functional teams, Project Managers, Project Controls (cost and schedule control, earned value management), Design Discipline Leader, and other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Possesses strong leadership skills, strong technical expertise, multi-disciplinary engineering experience, and a record of successes managing engineering of large-scale projects.
  • Demonstrates motivation to deliver high-quality engineering solutions that meet and exceed client expectations.
