Director of Engineering Integrated Platform | Platform Engineering, SRE & DevOps

Broadridge•Town of Hunter, NY
•$235,000 - $250,000

About The Position

Broadridge is building a new Integrated Platform at the heart of its wider company strategy. Connecting enterprise applications and client-facing experiences across Capital Markets, Wealth Management, Investor Communications, and other business domains, the platform brings together a common ontology, standardized APIs, and scalable event-driven capabilities to enable connected services and innovation. This newly created Director of Engineering role is directly embedded in that strategy and critical to making it a reality. You will turn strategic ambition into reliable, scalable capabilities by leading multiple engineering managers and team leads across a multi-layer organization. Your mandate spans platform reliability, incident and release management, DevOps transformation, and responsible AI adoption. This is a role for a builder of teams and technology who wants to shape a company-wide strategic priority—not simply run an operational function. Partner with senior leaders to translate goals into engineering outcomes, empower your managers, and guide architecture and critical technical decisions while delivering through your teams.

Requirements

  • 10+ years in engineering, including sustained, direct ownership of production SRE or cloud reliability for business-critical distributed systems. A record of improving availability, recovery time, and operational toil—not simply overseeing teams that own reliability.
  • Designing and operating resilient services across IAM, networking, compute (EKS, ECS, or Lambda), observability, and infrastructure as code. Demonstrated improvements in capacity, failure isolation, multi-AZ resilience, and tested recovery against RTO/RPO targets.
  • Directing cross-service response, making recovery decisions under pressure, and communicating business impact. Evidence of reduced detection and recovery times, fewer repeat incidents, and corrective actions carried through to verified engineering fixes.
  • Ownership of readiness criteria, CI/CD quality gates, deployment sequencing, and rollback or roll-forward across service, database, and event-schema changes. Demonstrated reduction in change failures and recovery time while improving delivery speed.
  • Establishing SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, actionable observability, and sustainable on-call practices. A record of using reliability data to prioritize engineering investment and replacing recurring manual work with tested automation.
  • Java/Spring Boot, Kafka, and PostgreSQL—including runtime performance, consumer lag and delivery semantics, query and transaction behavior, and data integrity. Ability to challenge designs and guide evidence-based diagnosis beyond infrastructure symptoms.
  • Experience leading engineering managers and team leads in SRE, DevOps, or production engineering. Ability to turn reliability and release priorities into funded roadmaps, measurable outcomes, and clear executive reporting; practical judgment on safe, evaluated AI-assisted engineering.

Nice To Haves

  • Financial services or other regulated environments
  • Globally distributed engineering leadership
  • Kubernetes, Terraform, Open Telemetry, Kafka Connect, or PostgreSQL high availability
  • Progressive delivery, developer platforms, policy-as-code, or measurable AI-enabled engineering improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and coach engineering managers and team leads across SRE, DevOps, and release engineering. Own organizational design, hiring, performance management, succession planning, and leadership development. Establish clear decision rights, delegated ownership, and sustainable on-call practices.
  • Translate company strategy and platform priorities into a multi-quarter roadmap for CI/CD, infrastructure as code, environment consistency, self-service tooling, and toil reduction. Align capacity, dependencies, and investment with product, architecture, security, and operations.
  • Establish major-incident readiness, escalation, incident command, and stakeholder communication. Ensure timely recovery, blameless reviews, and closure of corrective actions. Partner with service owners to reduce recurring incidents and improve recovery performance.
  • Establish release governance, delivery calendars, quality gates, and production-readiness criteria. Advance automated testing, security checks, artifact traceability, progressive delivery, and safe rollback or roll-forward across API, database, and event-schema dependencies.
  • Identify high-value opportunities in engineering productivity, testing, knowledge retrieval, incident investigation, and controlled remediation. Lead pilots and adoption of approved tools; measure benefits and quality, protect sensitive information, and retain human authorization for production changes.
  • Define SLIs, SLOs, and error-budget practices with service owners. Improve observability, capacity planning, performance, and data integrity across AWS, Java/Spring Boot, Kafka, and PostgreSQL. Validate failover, backup restoration, and disaster recovery against agreed objectives.
  • Connect engineering milestones to company goals through an executive scorecard covering service health, release performance, roadmap progress, AI outcomes, talent, cost, and risk. Surface dependencies and investment trade-offs early; align leaders on the decisions needed to deliver.
  • Treat shared capabilities as products: create reusable patterns and self-service experiences, gather developer feedback, and measure adoption. Partner with security and risk teams on auditable controls and software supply-chain integrity; improve cloud cost efficiency without compromising resilience.
