About The Position

The next phase of AI development depends on infrastructure that can keep pace. As engineers and AI agents build and ship faster, configuring environments, testing changes, and accessing data need to become simpler, faster, and more reliable. We’re looking for a Director of Cloud Platform to lead the teams responsible for Attentive’s cloud infrastructure, centralized data platforms, and database infrastructure. You’ll own the technical direction and operational health of the foundation our products run on, while raising the bar for how our infrastructure teams operate, execute, and serve the broader engineering organization. You’ve led a high-performing engineering organization before, and you know what it takes to build one: strong managers, clear accountability, deep technical judgment, and consistent delivery. At Attentive, you’ll bring those expectations to a critical part of our platform, helping teams become more proactive, automate recurring work, and deliver improvements that accelerate the entire company. This is a deeply technical leadership role with broad impact. You’ll guide major architecture decisions, develop engineering leaders, and partner closely with our Developer Experience teams to remove friction from development. Your work will help us move with the speed of a startup while delivering the reliability, security, and efficiency our customers depend on.

  • Experience improving reliability, performance, governance, and cost efficiency of data platforms.
  • Experience driving consistent, automated approaches to provisioning, configuration, and operating infrastructure at scale.
  • Experience prioritizing and delivering high-value optimizations.
  • Experience improving visibility into spend, utilization, and unit costs.
  • Experience guiding architecture and capacity decisions while maintaining performance and reliability.
  • Experience establishing focused priorities, clear commitments, and effective operating practices.
  • Experience raising operational standards across observability, incident response, service objectives, disaster recovery, and safe change management.
  • Experience leading complex infrastructure and database migrations.
  • Experience making AWS and data platform costs visible and actionable.
  • Experience improving efficiency through sound architecture, capacity planning, and disciplined vendor management.
  • Experience challenging unnecessary complexity, guiding consequential design decisions, and helping teams resolve difficult production problems.

  • Experience with AI agents.

Responsibilities

  • Set a clear technical strategy and roadmap across multiple teams, connecting infrastructure investments to product delivery, reliability, and business priorities.
  • Raise the bar for technical quality, execution, and ownership. Define what strong performance looks like, hold teams accountable for results, and build a culture where engineers identify and solve problems proactively.
  • Hire, coach, and develop strong engineering managers and senior technical leaders. Assess talent thoughtfully, address performance gaps directly, and create opportunities for your strongest people to grow.
  • Build an organization that consistently delivers. Establish focused priorities, clear commitments, and effective operating practices that balance roadmap progress with production responsibilities.
  • Partner with Developer Experience teams to make infrastructure easy to provision, configure, and test through reusable components, clear interfaces, and self-service workflows.
  • Enable engineers and AI agents to create reproducible environments, test changes against realistic dependencies, and get fast feedback within clear access and cost controls.
  • Raise operational standards across observability, incident response, service objectives, disaster recovery, and safe change management. Ensure incidents lead to lasting improvements.
  • Lead complex infrastructure and database migrations with practical rollout plans, validation, and recovery paths.
  • Make AWS and data platform costs visible and actionable. Improve efficiency through sound architecture, capacity planning, and disciplined vendor management.
  • Stay close to the technical details. Challenge unnecessary complexity, guide consequential design decisions, and help teams resolve difficult production problems.
  • Measure progress through outcomes: faster environment setup, shorter feedback cycles, fewer manual interventions, stronger reliability, and better infrastructure economics.
