Director of Engineering, Agentic AI and Architecture

CreatorIQ•Los Angeles, CA
•$171,000 - $214,000•Hybrid

About The Position

The Director of Engineering, Agentic AI and Architecture, is a hands-on individual contributor role that reports to the CTO and is responsible for shaping CreatorIQ’s Agentic AI architecture while advancing the broader technical architecture of our platform. This role will help define how agentic capabilities are designed, evaluated, governed, and brought into production, while also driving architectural modernization, platform consistency, scalability, and sustainable engineering velocity across CreatorIQ. This is a remote, full-time role with approximately 10-20% travel to our engineering hubs or customer locations.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated success designing and evolving complex, scalable SaaS platforms and distributed systems.
  • Deep expertise in software and systems architecture, including the ability to move between strategic architecture decisions and hands-on technical execution.
  • Experience designing or delivering production AI systems, with a strong understanding of agent architecture, orchestration, retrieval patterns, evaluation, observability, guardrails, and operational reliability.
  • Proven ability to lead major modernization, migration, refactoring, or platform-unification initiatives across complex technical environments.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud-native, event-driven, and service-oriented architectural patterns, with sound judgment around when to standardize and when to preserve flexibility.
  • Ability to evaluate emerging AI approaches and technologies critically, separating useful production capabilities from experimentation that is not yet ready to scale.
  • Experience influencing senior engineers, architects, and cross-functional partners without relying on formal people-management authority.
  • Strong judgment around security, reliability, governance, data considerations, and responsible use when designing AI-enabled systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex architectural and AI concepts clearly to technical teams, executives, and non-technical stakeholders.
  • A hands-on, experimentation-oriented approach paired with the discipline to turn successful technical exploration into scalable, maintainable production systems.

Responsibilities

  • Define and evolve CreatorIQ’s architecture strategy across Agentic AI and the broader SaaS platform, aligning technical direction with product and business priorities.
  • Design architectural approaches for agentic systems, including agent orchestration, multi-agent patterns, retrieval-augmented generation, evaluation frameworks, observability, guardrails, and production deployment.
  • Create reference implementations that will be used as a general pattern for standardized implementation by the larger org (i.e., infra, observability, etc baked in).
  • Establish reusable patterns and technical foundations that enable teams to safely and efficiently build AI-powered and agentic product capabilities within CreatorIQ.
  • Lead modernization and platform-unification efforts that reduce architectural complexity, improve scalability and resilience, and create a more coherent technical foundation.
  • Evaluate architectural approaches, models, tools, frameworks, and infrastructure options based on product needs, engineering quality, security, maintainability, and operational impact. Work with our head of core platform infra organization to formalize selection, implementation, and rollout of infra.
  • Partner closely with the CTO, Product, Engineering, DevOps, Security, and other technical leaders to translate business priorities into durable architecture and execution plans.
  • Develop standards for testing, evaluating, monitoring, and governing AI and agentic systems so that new capabilities are reliable, measurable, secure, and aligned with CreatorIQ’s responsible AI practices.
  • Influence engineering teams through architecture reviews, prototypes, technical guidance, and hands-on problem-solving, helping teams adopt shared patterns without limiting appropriate autonomy.
  • Identify opportunities where Agentic AI and broader architectural improvements can meaningfully enhance CreatorIQ’s products, engineering workflows, and platform capabilities.
