About The Position

Overwatch Mission Critical is a service-disabled Veteran-owned small business (SDVOB) offering construction professional services, talent acquisition, and general contractor services for the mission-critical infrastructure industry. Our mission is the construction and management of state-of-the-art data centers. This role supports data center campus master planning, oversees the preparation and final approval of project contract documents, and provides design expertise and guidance on projects, operations, and systems. The position involves maintaining and updating Basis of Design documents, supporting digital technologies, managing design deviation logs, and developing a team BIM Standard. It also supports the Critical Operations team with digital product support and researches long-term strategies for Digital Twin development. The role identifies and implements new technologies to maximize energy and cost efficiency, communicates design policies, and stays knowledgeable about emerging technologies and design trends in the data center industry. Leadership is provided for document management through project management software.

Requirements

  • Proficient in Bluebeam Revu, Revit, and ACAD
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Teams and PowerPoint
  • 5-8 years' experience working in the Data Center Sector and specification of electrical equipment for mission critical facilities.
  • PE or path to PE certification
  • Strong understanding of UPS (Multi modules and redundant systems), Switchgear, Generators, Overhead Busway, Static Transfer Switches, PDU/RPP and DCIM.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in a professional work environment, including preparing written reports and documentation, conveying information clearly to team members, clients, and stakeholders, and responding appropriately to verbal and written communications related to job duties.
  • Must be able to walk, stand, stoop, twist, bend, and climb stairs or ladders for extended periods while navigating uneven, unpaved, or obstructed terrain.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Must be able to drive between job sites and access all areas of an active construction zone, including raised platforms, scaffolding, and confined spaces.
  • Must be able to tolerate exposure to outdoor weather conditions, dust, and construction-related noise, vibrations, and odors.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with contractors, engineers, and site personnel, and maintain situational awareness in high-activity environments.
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety vests, hearing protection, and steel-toe boots, is required.
  • Must have sufficient visual acuity to read drawings, specifications, and safety signage, and to observe site activity.

Responsibilities

  • Support data center campus master planning.
  • Oversee the preparation and final approval of project contract documents produced by third-party design consultants, ensuring designs are completed on schedule and within budget.
  • Provide design expertise and guidance on projects, operations, and systems within the company’s existing facilities.
  • Maintain and update the legacy and evolving Basis of Design documents.
  • Maintain a digital Test Fit playbook for BOD and BTS site planning.
  • Support in developing a digital BOD (in Revit) to standardize the design approach and support the evolution of the team BOD.
  • Provide support to the team Process team in implementing digital technologies.
  • Manage multi-project design deviation logs to allow for trend and cost analysis.
  • Work with the Process team to implement a database and tracker in Power BI.
  • Develop a team BIM Standard to be used on all BOD projects.
  • Support the Critical Operations team with digital product support for day-to-day operations and as-built drawing access.
  • Research and develop a long-term strategy to support Digital Twin development for team BOD projects.
  • Assist in the development of new basis of designs for emerging business needs.
  • Identify, recommend, and implement new technologies and systems to maximize the energy and cost efficiency of the company’s data centers.
  • Communicate and implement design policies, practices, standards, and security measures to ensure effective and consistent operations.
  • Maintain knowledge of emerging technologies and building design trends related to the data center industry.
  • Provide leadership for document management of the design documentation process through current and future project management software.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
