About The Position

This key Regional Environmental Director drives Environmental initiatives along with continual improvement in overall EHS performance of chemical facilities in KIK's Western and Gulf Coast (US) regions. Ideal candidate will formulate and implement policies that ensure KIK is compliant with the local, state, and federal environmental and safety regulations and also include the development and implementation of environmental policies and procedures within the region. Our ideal candidate is an Environmental expert with a solid background in Safety, Health and Security. You will provide support to your region's environmental and chemical plant operations management regarding overall EHSS issues. This position requires an experienced leader with a background in chemicals, with specific strengths in managing and developing direct reports at your manufacturing sites. Ideal candidate has sustained experience managing EHSS within a multi-facility region. Immediate expectations in this role include successful collaboration with management and continued development of 5 - 6 EHS professionals to deliver sustained performance of EHSS programs and metrics. This will be conducted through coordination of audits, corrective action plans and development of comprehensive EHSS management systems across KIK's West Coast and Gulf Coast plant locations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Management, Engineering, Chemical Science or similar discipline preferred.
  • 10+ years of Environmental, Safety, Health and Security program compliance experience in a multi-site manufacturing environment with evidence of continuous improvement success.
  • 5+ years as a manager of technical level employees.
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of federal, state/provincial, and local EHS regulations is required.
  • Experience with hazardous chemicals.
  • Experience with the Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standard (CFATS).
  • Proficient computer skills with TEAMS and MS Office, especially MS Word, MS Excel, MS Project and PowerPoint.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) a plus.
  • Experience with Process Safety Management (PSM), Risk Management Plans (RMP) or E2 is desired not required.
  • Experience in the CPG, or manufacturing products industry is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute environmental programs for all media, including air quality and permitting, hazardous and non-hazardous waste management, wastewater and stormwater management, spill prevention and control (SPCC), and resource conservation.
  • Manage environment remediation projects
  • Develop waste reduction strategies
  • Development and execution of tactical and strategic plans to improve divisional Environmental programs
  • Support Environmental compliance and auditing programs
  • Provide technical guidance concerning EHSS issues (OSHA 1910 & 1926).
  • Establishment and attainment of EHSS objectives and targets.
  • Development and execution of tactical and strategic plans to improve regional EHSS performance, including the allocation and management of EHSS resources.
  • Support compliance and auditing programs
  • Ensures the following divisional programs are implemented and maintained at your sites: EHSS communications.
  • Incident and injury reporting, investigation and recordkeeping.
  • Worker’s compensation claims management
  • EHSS corrective and preventive actions to ensure timely follow-up and implementation
  • Timely completion of all required safety, environmental, workers compensation and sustainability reporting to internal and external interested parties.
  • Process safety(PSM) and risk management (RSM) programs, where applicable.
  • Environmental, Health, Safety & Security management programs.
  • Emergency preparedness and response programs.
  • Ensure effective performance of EHSS personnel.
  • Manage the identification and selection of site EHSS personnel.
  • Manage the training, coaching, development and retention of site EHSS personnel.
  • Manage the periodic performance reviews of site EHSS personnel in collaborations with site operations leadership.
