About The Position

The Director of Environmental, Health & Safety Solutions (EHS) is a strategic leadership role responsible for the oversight, development, and continual improvement of the company’s environmental compliance and health & safety programs across all operational locations. This role serves as the central point of coordination for regulatory compliance, environmental permitting, inspection readiness, risk mitigation, and enterprise safety initiatives supporting the organization’s multi-state operations. The Director of EHS will lead the company’s efforts to proactively manage environmental obligations, maintain regulatory compliance, strengthen operational safety performance, and build scalable systems that support sustainable business growth. This position works closely with Operations, Fleet, Risk & Liability, Commercial Operations, and Executive Leadership to ensure consistency, accountability, and alignment across the organization.

  • 10+ years of Environmental, Health & Safety leadership experience within environmental services, industrial operations, transportation, oil & gas, waste management, or related industries.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, RCRA, SPCC, wastewater, stormwater, and environmental permitting requirements.
  • Experience managing multi-site regulatory compliance programs and operational safety initiatives.
  • Proven ability to develop scalable compliance systems and enterprise-wide programs.
  • Experience supporting high-risk operations and regulated environments.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

  • CSP, CHMM, CIH, ASP, or similar certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead company-wide Environmental, Health & Safety strategy across all facilities and operational divisions.
  • Oversee environmental compliance programs related to air permits, wastewater permits, stormwater compliance, SPCC plans, waste handling requirements, inspection programs, reporting deadlines, and agency interactions.
  • Develop and maintain centralized systems for tracking permits, inspections, corrective actions, renewals, and regulatory commitments across all facilities.
  • Ensure organizational compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and all applicable federal, state, local, and client-specific regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with operational leadership to identify compliance risks, operational gaps, and improvement opportunities.
  • Drive continual improvement initiatives focused on incident reduction, environmental stewardship, regulatory readiness, and operational discipline.
  • Oversee company-wide health and safety programs including: Incident Reporting & Root Cause Analysis, Corrective Action Management, Driver Safety Programs, HAZWOPER Training, Respiratory Protection & Fit Testing, Short Service Employee (SSE) Programs, Behavior-Based Safety Initiatives, Emergency Response Safety Planning, Contractor Safety Compliance, Fleet Safety Coordination, Safety Audits & Field Inspections.
  • Coordinate regulatory inspections, internal audits, customer compliance reviews, and agency responses.
  • Develop standardized policies, procedures, and compliance frameworks that create consistency across all locations.
  • Provide executive leadership with visibility into environmental and safety performance through reporting, metrics, trend analysis, and corrective action tracking.
  • Support operational growth initiatives by ensuring environmental and safety compliance requirements are incorporated into new services, facilities, projects, and acquisitions.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration between Operations, Environmental, Fleet, Maintenance, Risk, and Safety teams to ensure alignment and accountability.
  • Facilitate company-wide safety communications, alerts, and regulatory updates.
  • Develop long-term EHS strategies that improve organizational resilience, reduce risk exposure, and support operational excellence.
