Director of eCommerce - Military

About The Position

The eCommerce business at Galls has seen steady growth for the last several years and now contributes significantly to the company’s growth. To support the next phase of exponential growth, the leadership team is looking for eCommerce leaders with a solid understanding of various eCommerce growth levers, command over multi-channel orchestration to create differentiated experiences, and deep experience in delivering EBITDA growth. Reporting to the SVP of Marketing and eCommerce, this leadership role is accountable for delivering disruptive growth for the military eCommerce business by first defining growth strategies and effective campaigns under the guidance of Galls executive leadership team and then overseeing the flawless execution to deliver against the growth targets. We are looking for ‘pie-enlarging’ growth, not ‘pie-rearranging’ growth.

Requirements

  • 8-12 years of experience within eCommerce and digital marketing.
  • Military background and thereafter transition to eCommerce strongly preferred.
  • Track record of delivering impactful financial results.
  • Must have led teams of 5+ members and several marketing agencies at once.
  • End-to-end digital experience, site merchandising, and multi-channel marketing leadership experience required.
  • Data-driven thinking for planning and execution required.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Ability to collaborate across functions with all levels of team from C-level.
  • Ability to prioritize and structure work in an organized fashion.
  • Self-motivated, analytic, and data-driven decision maker.
  • Ability to leverage data to make data-driven recommendations and provide program insights.
  • Strong financial and analytical ability – ability to budget, reviewing risks and opportunities.
  • Excellent communicator – can give clarity and set direction.
  • Strong commercial awareness about the military uniforms and tactical gear industry.
  • Critical thinker and problem-solving skills.
  • Contribute to a culture that is fun to work in and help build an open creative community.

Responsibilities

  • Optimizing the end-to-end onsite experience for military web properties.
  • Setting the vision, direction, and tactics to optimize customer experience for conversion.
  • Owning the product roadmap for military websites to drive improvements in AOV, conversion rate, bounce rate, page load speeds, customer experience, and user experience.
  • Defining, delivering, and implementing digital experience strategy through journeys (CX and UX) for all customer segments and personalizing based on their purchasing and engagement behaviors.
  • Collaborating with merchandising and inventory teams to ensure availability of profitable and popular products on the website.
  • Forecasting demand for various products based on website visitor behavior and ensuring inventory buying team includes the forecast in all buying decisions.
  • Collaborating with merchandising to ensure strong relationships with all major suppliers and positively influencing suppliers’ willingness to participate in strategic vendor programs and customer-centric marketing campaigns by sharing common goals, marketing budgets, and KPIs.
  • Collaborating with Marketing leads to identify new and innovative ways to drive traffic to the websites as well as developing and improving traffic from existing channels.
  • Collaborating closely with the brand marketing leader to ensure all site creative fits with each brand’s guidelines whilst maintaining the best customer journey to maximize conversion.
  • Identifying competitors and evaluating their strategies to determine their strengths and weaknesses relative to Galls and delivering competitive superiority across the board.
  • Creating effective multi-channel orchestrations based on the buyer’s brand and channel affinity, recency and frequency of their web behavior, and their purchasing patterns.
  • Maximizing the efficacy of marketing dollars to deliver revenue and profitability at scale.
  • Performing tests and experimentations across the board to establish incrementality delivered by marketing dollars and implement at scale what works for what audience group.
  • Ensuring all key buying moments (promos, bundles, deals, flash sales etc.) are well planned and executed with a market activation plan, clearly phased targets collaboratively produced with inventory, marketing, and merchandising functions, and a clear awareness of any activity from last year.
  • Collaborating with and leading across merchandising, inventory, brand & marketing center of excellence teams to come up with growth strategies with goals and timelines across the customer lifecycle for acquisition, expansion, retention, and win-back.
  • Planning revenue and profit maximizing multi-channel and multi-touch campaigns that are buyer-centric in nature and ensuring a personal touch for each buyer.
  • Reviewing campaign performance on a weekly basis across all marketing channels and making decisions to optimize campaigns to meet or beat targets.
  • Using sophisticated analytics to define strategies and execution of campaigns.
  • Leading campaign execution teams organized by marketing channel and ensuring cross-team collaboration.
  • Leading campaign planning across all marketing channels to deliver on monthly, quarterly, and annual business targets.
  • Establishing collaborative leadership presence across the organization for rapid execution against aggressive targets.
  • Evangelizing the eCommerce business across the organization and outside Galls to win support from all teams to drive P&L growth.
  • Being a visible leader for the military business inside and outside Galls.
  • Establishing rapport with collaborative leadership style across and at all levels in the organization.
  • Leading a team of digital and marketing professionals as well as agencies to deliver against business targets on time and under budget.
  • Collaborating with finance to establish clear reporting for all P/L parameters including traffic, conversion, AOV, revenue, gross margin, and EBITDA across all web properties for the eCommerce business.
  • Assisting SVP of Marketing and eCommerce in preparing for executive leadership and board meetings to showcase business performance.
  • Delivering outstanding performance across all P/L expectations monthly, quarterly, and annually under the guidance of SVP of Marketing and eCommerce.
