About The Position

The Director of eCommerce Category Strategy will shape and inform PetIQ's eCommerce strategy to drive category growth and digital shelf excellence efforts, serving as a senior subject matter expert with critical customers and across the organization. This role influences how PetIQ and their customers win in digital commerce, delivers data-driven recommendations to drive category growth, and builds scalable capabilities to embed a digital-first approach. Acts as a trusted advisor externally while enabling internal teams with the frameworks, tools, and insights required to execute. As a part of the Growth, Strategy and Insights team at PetIQ, this role helps shape metrics, guide decisions, and drive growth across the business.

Requirements

  • 8–12 years of experience in eCommerce, digital shelf, or omnichannel strategy
  • Deep expertise across major eCommerce platforms (Amazon, Walmart.com, Chewy, etc.)
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams and external partners
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills with ability to translate insights into action
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, Analytics, or related field

Nice To Haves

  • Experience advising retailers or supporting joint eCommerce strategy development
  • Experience across multiple brands or categories (agency or multi-brand environment preferred)
  • Demonstrated ability to build playbooks, frameworks, or scalable capabilities
  • Exposure to emerging commerce capabilities, including AI-enabled optimization, automation, and GenEO (Generative Engine Optimization) strategies

Responsibilities

  • Lead digital shelf and eCommerce discussions with customer stakeholders
  • Deliver data-driven recommendations to improve online category performance
  • Influence strategy across search, assortment, content, and ratings
  • Establish PetIQ as a trusted partner in digital commerce
  • Develop and scale playbooks for search, content, assortment, and reviews
  • Enable category leaders to apply digital shelf insights in customer engagements
  • Translate enterprise strategy into practical execution guidance
  • Recommends and documents PetIQ’s eCommerce strategy and standardized KPIs (search, conversion, content, ratings)
  • Build scorecards to benchmark performance vs competitors and category trends
  • Identify performance gaps and translate them into prioritized actions
  • Develop frameworks, training, and best practices to embed digital shelf thinking
  • Identify and implement tools, data sources, and processes to enable execution
  • Identify and address commercial, regulatory, and platform-specific barriers
  • Partner cross-functionally to expand digital assortment and distribution opportunities
  • Monitor emerging platforms, competitive dynamics, and evolving capabilities (including GenEO and AI) and translate into actionable insights
  • Influence without authority across Category Leadership, Sales, Marketing, and RGM as a key driver within the Growth, Strategy and Insights team
  • Guide experimentation, measurement, and scaling of successful initiatives
  • Continuously bring forward best-in-class practices and competitive insights
