About The Position

The Director of Donor Acquisition (DOA) is a strategic, Kingdom-minded pioneer responsible for spearheading the formation of the New Donor Acquisition department. In this capacity, the DOA establishes the foundational systems, workflows, and organizational structure needed to scale outreach while upholding East-West’s commitment to intentional, relationship-based stewardship. As a dedicated guide for those new to the ministry, the DOA receives first-time donors and guides them through a discovery process that explicitly connects their initial gift to the Great Commission. In addition to these primary acquisition efforts, the DOA provides caseload support and management for mid-level partners, fostering authentic relationships through prayer, spiritual encouragement, and consistent impact reporting to ensure each partner is well-supported in their journey of biblical generosity. This position is responsible for playing their part to achieve the bigger mission of East-West and for ensuring that all Donor activities are clearly aligned with East-West Vision, Mission, Values, Statement of Faith, and Biblical principles. As an ambassador of faith in Christ and rooted in Biblical principles, this position will actively minister to EW leadership, staff, partners, and the community in a manner that exhibits Christ-character through personal and corporate spiritual disciplines.

Requirements

Nonprofit development experience required
Familiarity with development systems and processes

Nice To Haves

BA degree or equivalent experience within discipline, highly preferred
5-7 years minimum experience working in a similar role, preferred
5-7 years of ministry/nonprofit experience, preferred
Missions experience desired

Responsibilities

Steward East-West relationships, donations, and assets, recognizing that all must give an account (Proverbs 16:8; Matthew 25:14-30; Luke 12:41-48)
Commit to growing in the knowledge of the Bible and its principles to communicate the same things with the East-West donors and prospects, including the power of the gospel, The Great Commission, and the call to Biblical generosity and Biblical financial principles
Engage with the East-West donors and prospects in a loving, kind, and gracious way that honors God and serves others
Spearhead the development of the New Donor Acquisition department, establishing and departmental systems, workflows, and best practices that allow for a growing volume of donors while maintaining the intentional relationship standard of East-West
Design the organizational structure for the future acquisition team; eventually onboard, and lead new team members, fostering a culture of spiritual alignment, professional excellence, and high-touch donor care
Receive first-time donors generated from various ads and proactively shepherd them through a discovery process, preparing them for future major gift opportunities through consistent impact reporting and prayerful engagement
Design and implement a specialized stewardship track for first-time mid-level donors, ensuring they receive immediate, high-touch engagement that connects their gift to the Great Commission
Monitor and report on key performance indicators related to department growth, including donor conversion rates from first-time to recurring status and overall portfolio health
Actively and effectively solicit funds for the East-West ministry budget through mid-level donor relationships
Regularly meet with donors and prospects for cultivation, encouraging Biblical generosity and solicitation
Build authentic relationships with existing mid-level donors, including prayer, sharing personal testimonies of faith in Jesus Christ and service of His kingdom, and encouraging Biblical generosity
Regularly minister to and communicate with donors through phone calls, letters, and emails, including sharing the stories and teachings of Christians around the world for furthering ministry and inspiration
Establish a foundation for key leadership to form relationships with current and potential major donors
Creatively use events, development team, missionary staff, and various forms of communication to increase donor engagement with the organization
Prepare proposals, reports, and briefings for the solicitation and stewardship of mid-level donors
Collaborate with the Development Team in identifying, managing, and cultivating individual prospects and donors
Actively utilize fundraising database for donor management
Maintain Integrity in record keeping in compliance with ECFA standards and Scripture
Uphold a close and growing relationship with Jesus Christ
