Job Summary Director of Dining Services Bistro Café | Thousand Oaks, CA Salary Range: $75,000–$85,000 annually (DOE) Experience Required: Minimum of 3 years of foodservice management experience The Director of Dining Services is responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership for all dining operations at the Bistro Café in Thousand Oaks. This role ensures operational excellence, regulatory compliance, fiscal responsibility, and high levels of client and customer satisfaction. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership capabilities, effective communication, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with peer Directors and Regional Management. A strong emphasis is placed on safety, compliance, and meeting operational deadlines.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of foodservice management experience
  • ServSafe® Certification required or ability to obtain

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Service Management or related field preferred or Associate’s degree with 4+ years of related experience
  • 5–7 years of operational leadership experience preferred
  • Previous P&L or contract-managed foodservice experience preferred
  • Strong financial, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and foodservice management systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight to salaried managers and hourly associates
  • Direct and coordinate all dining service operations, including cafeteria, retail, and catering
  • Ensure strict adherence to food safety, sanitation, and regulatory standards (HACCP, OSHA)
  • Oversee staffing activities including hiring, training, performance management, and corrective actions
  • Prepare and manage annual operating budgets with accountability for financial performance
  • Monitor purchasing, inventory control, labor management, and cost containment
  • Complete required operational and financial reporting using company systems (inventory, cash, payroll, production)
  • Collaborate effectively with Regional Management and peer Directors of Dining Services
  • Maintain consistent compliance with safety, accounting, training, and operational deadlines
  • Communicate professionally with clients, customers, and associates
  • Perform other duties as assigned
