About The Position

The University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) is seeking a Director of Development, Planned Giving (DODPG) to lead efforts to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward planned giving donors, with a focus on planned gifts of $25,000 or greater. Reporting to and collaborating with the Director of Planned Giving, the DODPG will advise donors, faculty, and Advancement staff on planned and deferred giving opportunities, including bequests, trusts, beneficiary designations, charitable gift annuities, retirement accounts, securities, real estate, mining claims, and life insurance. The DODPG will manage a portfolio of planned giving prospects and donors, develop new relationships, and serve as a planned giving liaison to colleges, schools, and units across the University. Responsibilities include preparing gift-related agreements and documentation, supporting donor stewardship and solicitation strategies, and assisting with the training of Advancement staff on planned giving. The position will also support the Nevada Legacy Society, Planned Giving Advisory Council, and planned giving marketing and stewardship efforts while ensuring accurate reporting, documentation, and compliance with University Advancement processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree and four (4) years of related professional work experience OR Master’s/Professional Degree (JD, CPA, CFP) and two (2) years of related professional work experience.
• Successful professional experience, preferably in higher education fundraising, non-profit or in a related field which requires strong relationship-building and outcome driven components.
• Demonstrated record of success or related experience with JD, CPA, Certified Financial Planner or advanced degree in business, finance or related field is strongly recommended.
