About The Position

One Family’s mission is to prevent homelessness and break the cycle of family poverty in Massachusetts by promoting pathways to economic independence. Founded in 2000 in response to the growing crisis of family homelessness, One Family believes that education and career success are the foundations of lasting housing stability. This work is especially urgent in Massachusetts, where residents face some of the highest living costs in the country. Through two direct-service programs, the organization helps families at risk of or experiencing homelessness overcome barriers to higher education and family-sustaining careers, supporting their path toward lasting economic and housing stability. One Family pairs this work with public policy advocacy, engaging program participants on its Advocacy Team to use their lived experience to drive systemic change. This is a rare chance to shape the philanthropic future of an organization with a proven model and significant room to grow. As a key member of the executive team, the Director of Development and Communications will build and execute a bold revenue strategy, expanding One Family's funding base, elevating its brand, and deepening donor relationships, at a pivotal moment in the organization's growth. One Family has a $2.7 million budget for FY2027 and is targeting $1.7 million in philanthropic revenue. You will have the resources and leadership support to pursue new funding streams, build strategic partnerships, and lead a talented three-person team.
