About The Position

This position is responsible for planning, developing, implementing, administering, evaluating, and monitoring an aggressive Direct Fund Raising Program targeting an assigned geographical area under the direction of an Area Commander. The role involves developing and securing funds to reach or surpass fund-raising goals through various vehicles including individual gifts, corporate gifts and sponsorships, foundation support, government grants, capital campaigns, and special events. The Director will work directly with local officers, their boards, and committees to develop local promotional plans, coordinate public relations activities, ensure budget compliance, and confer with Divisional and Territorial Headquarters administration and boards.

Requirements

Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Marketing or a related field with specialized training in Fund Raising Management highly desirable.
Three to five years of progressively responsible experience in fund raising and fund-raising management, OR any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
Valid State Driver’s License.

Nice To Haves

Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Certification as Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) is desirable.

Responsibilities

Plans, develops, implements, administers, and sustains an aggressive Financial Development Plan targeting a specific geographical area.
Develops, plans, and conducts appropriate fund raising activities in support of the Division's budget and programs.
Submits programs to the Area Commander for review, direction, and approval.
Solicits donations and cultivates relationships with donors to develop, secure, and maintain new income sources for present and long-term financial support.
Ensures that all requests from donors and potential donors for information and clarification are responded to in an accurate, timely, and professional manner.
Evaluates day-to-day fund-raising efforts to ensure that fund-raising goals are met and/or surpassed.
Plans, develops, and initiates a fund-raising strategy to develop corporate gifts and sponsorships as well as foundation support for special programs and projects.
Researches financial status and philosophy of organizations to identify potential prospects for major gifts.
Contacts corporations to identify corporate representatives responsible for donor solicitation.
Cultivates and maintains effective working relationships with corporate officials.
