Boston College seeks a Director of Debate to coach its National Debate Tournament (NDT) program, administer the program budget, arrange travel, and attend 8 to 10 tournaments per year. The university wishes to continue the program’s policy-oriented NDT focus. The program is housed in the Department of Communication in the Morrissey College of Arts and Sciences. Teaching one course per semester in Debate, Argumentation Theory, Persuasion, Public Speaking, or a similar subject on an overload basis is a welcomed option. This is a full-time, 35-hour-per-week, twelve-month exempt position. The target start date is June 2027. The hiring range is $82,100 to $102,650, commensurate with relevant experience. Applicants should submit a letter of application, resume or vita, a portfolio of coaching experience listing recent tournaments, honors and awards, and coaching philosophy, and two letters of reference. Evidence of teaching effectiveness, such as course evaluations, is optional. Inquiries may be directed to Dr. Ashley P. Duggan, chair of the Debate Search Committee, or John Katsulas, retiring Director of Debate.
