About The Position

The Director of Dairy Programs provides strategic leadership and oversight of Byrne’s dairy programs and milk procurement activities. This role anchors farm relationship management, milk supply forecasting, contracts and balancing agreements, and oversight of procurement operations and milk quality to ensure supply aligns with manufacturing and business needs.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in dairy/agriculture program leadership, milk procurement, or related supply operations.
  • Ability to build and maintain supplier relationships and lead cross-functional planning and forecasting activities.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with internal teams and external partners.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with contracts, co-op balancing agreements, and regulatory/compliance coordination in dairy or food/agriculture.
  • 10+ years of experience in the dairy industry.

Responsibilities

  • Build, maintain and grow relationships with conventional and organic dairy farmers, serving as a top point of contact for producers.
  • Solicit organic and conventional farms as needed to support company supply requirements.
  • Partner with farms to prepare and maintain milk supply forecasts.
  • Support forecasting and planning cycles to support right sizing milk supply / demand.
  • Prepare projections for upcoming year supply planning.
  • Renew farm contracts as needed and work with co-ops on balancing agreements; provide supply forecast updates when required.
  • Build relationships with other dairy processors and milk supply groups in a buy/sell capacity ensuring we are able to buy and sell milk as business needs dictate.
  • Oversee milk procurement operations including ordering/scheduling issues, hauling/hauler issues, and buying/selling support.
  • Attend meetings regarding new products, plant disruptions, and other changes that impact milk procurement.
  • Oversee milk quality and partner with internal/external stakeholders to support standards.
  • Lead compliance with FARM program and all related quality and compliance requirements.
  • Represent Byrne at industry and organic vendor meetings and conferences (e.g., annual meetings).
  • Organize and lead regional organic producer annual meetings.
