About The Position

As with other positions within this ministry, the Director of Programs, the Bay Area is known for their strong Christian character. This person sets an example for young believers or non-believers, and lives a life that is above reproach. Since they are in full agreement with the Statement of Faith of Mentoring Alliance, they recognize that a life consistent with our Christian heritage is of paramount importance. This person abides by the rules and policies in the Mentoring Alliance handbook. The Director of Programs, Bay Area iis responsible for all MA regional programs including implementation of curriculum and other program elements, recruiting and leadership of staff, and oversight of safety and compliance standards. This position will also participate in activities that help build the overall program elements and standards and launch new initiatives as agreed upon with relevant leadership. This position is a class 50 position. It is full-time and averages 40 hours per week Authority to accomplish this job is given by the Executive Director, Bay Area to whom the Director of Programs, Bay Area is responsible. Authority is given to purchase equipment and materials necessary to accomplish this job. Any purchase over $1,000 – including projects that entail multiple purchases that add up to over $1,000 - will be made after consultation with and approved by the Executive Director, Bay Area, whether or not they are budgeted items. Authority is given to recruit, hire, train, supervise, and terminate staff needed to accomplish this job. Hiring and pay adjustments shall be done within the limits of the approved budget. Full-time staff shall be hired after the consultation with the Executive Director, Bay Area. The Executive Director, Bay Area should be notified of pending terminations. Authority is given to enter into contractual agreements within the approved budget limits. The Director of Programs, Bay Area is first and foremost considered to be a Minister of the Gospel. This position furthers Mentoring Alliance’s religious mission by: Following Jesus Christ and setting an example for others through their lifestyle. Exhibiting a passion for sharing the Gospel with others. Being willing and able to explain the message of the Gospel to kids and families of the Mentoring Alliance. Being willing and able to counsel, shepherd, and disciple kids and families of Mentoring Alliance in a manner consistent with the Bible. Being willing and able to explain Mentoring Alliance’s beliefs and Statement of Faith in person or over the phone to kids and families of Mentoring Alliance. Being ready, willing, and able to lead or contribute to distinctly Christian activities (including, but not limited to, worship or staff chapel).

Requirements

  • Four-year degree in related field from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of ten years work experience in an organization planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young people.
  • A minimum of ten years of experience managing personnel.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Group leadership skills, including an understanding of group dynamics.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, direct and coordinate operations in personnel supervision; the recruitment and retention of key personnel; and budget management.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees launch and implementation of MA programs at identified time and location for rollout.
  • Adapts to changes and overcomes obstacles in the process of program launch and implementation.
  • Participate in strategic planning of program launch plans including dates, locations, staffing and other key details.
  • Work with VP of Program Development to build training and on-boarding plans for new staff.
  • Identify and build key relationships with local stakeholders to support program launch plans.
  • Takes initiative to identify weaknesses and takes steps to resolve issues.
  • Ensures Mentoring Alliance program elements are successfully implemented at all regional locations and congruent with MA program blueprints.
  • Oversees and directs purchasing and distribution of necessary supplies to program teams and sites as needed.
  • Communicates necessary information to MA Registration and Operations teams to support effective communication, registration, and data-tracking.
  • Participates in Program Development efforts including feedback/evaluation sessions, curriculum selection, and policy development.
  • Serves as conduit of the ministry vision of Mentoring Alliance into the Bay Area programs.
  • Ensures measurement and evaluation systems are being completed and regularly reviewed with regional team, regional VP, and VP of Program Development.
  • Demonstrates leadership to ensure each Bay Area program is in line with MA safety standards.
  • Participates in the development, implementation and monitoring of the programs budget for the Central Texas region.
  • Hires and oversees the management of program leaders.
  • Manages and provides ongoing feedback and regular appraisal of direct reports.
  • Collaborates with the Mentoring Alliance Recruiting Coordinator to implement recruiting strategies and lead full-time teams through recruiting efforts for part-time and summer staff.
  • Oversees the hiring process for the part-time and summer staff of MAAS .
  • Identifies and supports professional development opportunities for the Bay Area team.
  • Ensures training is completed for all regional staff so that they can be effective in their roles.
  • Identifies training concerns or issues to share with the Program Development team as needed.
  • Ensures the timely and proper evaluation, affirmation and discipline of staff.
  • In conjunction with the Program Development team, participates in annual review of licensing requirements to ensure the Bay Area program is in compliance with any regulatory bodies including the State of Texas and partner school districts.
  • Regularly reviews and ensures effective implementation of all MA safety standards.
  • Regularly monitor and manage staffing numbers to ensure programs are operating within safety standards.
  • Ensures completion of regular safety audits.
  • Reviews safety audits with appropriate staff and leadership.
  • Oversees correction of any safety violations discovered within audit or other reports by staff, children, families or school staff.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with parents, district administrators, and members of the Bay Area community for the advancement of Mentoring Alliance in your region.
  • In partnership with Recruiting Coordinator, builds and maintains relationships with churches, colleges, and universities for purposes of staff recruitment.
  • Provides support for board meetings and delivers presentations as needed.
  • Provides feedback regarding strategic direction for Mentoring Alliance.
  • Provides perspective and feedback to the Executive Leadership Team.
  • Attends and participates in Senior Leadership Team meetings.
  • Serves on appropriate committees; attend staff meetings, board meetings, and other staff functions.
  • Strengthens teamwork, collaboration, alignment, morale, transparency, credibility, and trust throughout the ministry.
  • Fulfills necessary tasks, projects or roles as assigned.
