About The Position

Under the direct supervision of the Sport Administrators for Cross Country and Track & Field, this role leads Division I Men’s & Women’s Cross Country and Track & Field programs in accordance with NCAA, Big Ten, and University regulations. The position involves teaching and instructing student-athletes, providing guidance and motivation, attending competitions, developing recruiting strategies, managing budgets, and engaging with alumni and supporters. Additional responsibilities may include planning and conducting team practices, individual skill instruction, departmental collaboration, and administrative duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Collegiate or professional Cross Country or Track and Field experience
  • Minimum four (4) years of collegiate or professional Cross Country or Track and Field coaching experience
  • Ability to foster athletic development and success while maintaining a strong emphasis on the personal development and academic achievement of student-athletes
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent communication skills to work with student-athletes, other coaches, support staff and administrators
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Successful applicants are responsible for ensuring their eligibility to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the United States, a lawful permanent resident, a foreign national authorized to work in the United States without the need of employer sponsorship) on or before the effective date of appointment.

  • Familiarity with Teamworks Hub, and related applications preferred

Responsibilities

  • Teaching and instructing student-athletes in the fundamentals of Division I Collegiate Cross Country and Track & Field
  • Provide guidance, motivation, and leadership development to student-athletes
  • Attend all competitions, including travel to away competitions throughout the competitive collegiate season
  • Develop and execute national and international recruiting strategies
  • Organization of data and analytics
  • Budget managing
  • Engage with alumni and supporters of program
  • Planning and conducting team practices
  • Individual skill instruction
  • Departmental collaboration
  • Performance of administrative, academic outreach duties
  • Other duties as assigned by the Sport Administrators
