About The Position

The Director of Critical Care and IMCU is responsible for the financial management and all departmental functions, including formulating and executing departmental/divisional budgets, conducting periodic budgetary reviews, evaluating cost management strategies, and developing strategic departmental/divisional plans. This role is also responsible for the administration, coordination, and evaluation of clinical services, formulating staffing models, and cultivating staff development. The Director participates in performance improvement activities to ensure effective resource utilization and quality of care, accepts responsibility for regulatory compliance with federal, state, and JCAHO standards, and facilitates productive working relationships with system management, physicians, staff, and the community. Ensuring patient/family satisfaction is a top priority, and the Director exemplifies leadership and concern for healthcare as a representative of St. Mary’s.

Requirements

  • Current Georgia professional nursing license.
  • Professional certification (as applicable).
  • ACLS required (must obtain within 6 months of hire).
  • Ability to work with management, staff, and other professions from all areas of healthcare.
  • Ability to coordinate, manage, supervise and evaluate all clinical patient care services provided by the department/division.
  • Must be able to work with culturally diverse people of all age groups.
  • Thorough knowledge of management principles and their application.
  • Understanding of the principles and practice of the performance improvement process.
  • Proficiency in the application of policies/ procedures.
  • Interpretation of regulatory/ accreditation issues for patient care, staffing, age specific and employment practices.
  • Computer proficiency preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be highly organized and able to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to empower staff.
  • Accounting skills.
  • Ability to coach, educate, and create a team spirit.
  • RN required.
  • BS in nursing, business, or health related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years in management/ administration in a health related occupation required.
  • Three or more years’ clinical experience required.
  • High degree of initiative and decision making qualities.
  • Ability to coordinate and evaluate services provided.
  • Sound judgment in carrying out duties and dealing with various personalities/ cultures/ age groups.
  • Ability to analyze data and make intelligent decisions.
  • Versatility and enjoyment of the challenge of a variety of duties.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with other departments and staff.
  • Ability to develop collaborative working relationships with physicians and other community health care providers.

Nice To Haves

  • Active membership in professional organizations is recommended.
  • Master’s degree highly preferred.
