Washington Athletics has an outstanding opportunity for a Director of Creative Services to join their team. Reporting to the Senior Director of Football Administration, the Director of Creative Services will oversee the development and execution of all creative initiatives for the University of Washington football program. This leadership position is responsible for shaping the program’s visual and cinematic identity, managing a multi-disciplinary creative staff, and delivering innovative storytelling that enhances recruiting, elevates the brand, engages fans, and supports student-athletes, coaches, and staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Art, Graphics, Visual Design, or a related field.
  • Three years of related experience with demonstrated expertise in operations, computerized video editing, and networking/IT systems.
  • Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
  • Must have a high level of technological knowledge, an understanding of information technology, networking, video editing, cinematic production, and programming.
  • Knowledge of applicable policies as they relate to football media exchange or commercial media entities.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional or collegiate sports video programming is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of football industry specific analytical systems and football positions, plays, and competition is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all cinematic video productions and features produced for the football program.
  • Conceptualize, script, and execute motivational, promotional, and instructional videos for internal use in team meetings, banquets, and ceremonies, as well as external storytelling pieces published through social media and other platforms.
  • Drive the creation of long-form content, including cinematic storytelling, behind-the-scenes features, and documentary-style productions designed to inspire fans and resonate with prospective student-athletes.
  • Incorporate new technology, equipment, and production techniques to position Washington Football at the forefront of creative innovation.
  • Enhance production value through the use of Adobe Creative Suite, Cinema Pro Camera systems, lighting, and sound design.
  • Hire, train, and supervise a diverse creative team that includes the Director of Social Media, Director of Graphic Design, Director of Video Production and the Manager of Video Production, and some hourly support staff.
  • Provide clear direction and professional development opportunities to foster a high-performing unit.
  • Through photo, video, and graphic production, lead the creative team in supporting the football program’s brand and culture, working closely with the Head Coach, Senior Director of Football Administration, and the recruiting department.
  • Oversee the creative execution of all recruiting visit presentations and materials, ensuring alignment with program values and brand identity.
  • Develop and implement a long-term creative services strategy aligned with the recruiting calendar and program objectives.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings to set priorities, timelines, and deliverables for the creative team.
  • Direct the vision for social media and marketing as it relates to football recruiting, brand building, and fan engagement.
  • Collaborate with NIL personnel to grow student-athlete brands through innovative content, while also overseeing the digital presence of the Head Coach and assistant coaches.
  • Partner with the Senior Director of Football Administration on facility design projects to ensure alignment with branding initiatives.
  • Serve as the program’s creative and marketing liaison with athletics marketing staff and external stakeholders.
  • Establish and manage the Creative Services budget, including forecasting and requesting equipment needs for approval.
  • Attend all practices, home and away games, postseason competitions, and football-related events throughout the year to capture and direct high-quality creative content.
  • Collaborate closely with coaching and recruiting staff to ensure the timely production and delivery of video and creative assets that directly support program operations and recruiting initiatives.
  • Partner with the video department, ICA staff, and the Conference to secure rights to footage from the Conference Network and other media outlets.
  • Oversee the recording of all opponents and self-scout television broadcasts, while maintaining a well-organized and comprehensive ICA video library and inventory.
  • Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of the Head Football Coach and/or the Sr. Director of Football Administration.
  • Compliance with the rules and regulations of the University, the NCAA, the Conference, the State of Washington, and any other governing body is of paramount importance to the University.
  • The overall responsibility of this position is for the successful operation of the program in full compliance with all such rules and regulations.
  • As a condition of employment, the Employee shall be required to participate in rules education programs offered by the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.
