About The Position

The Construction Director will lead and manage plumbing, mechanical, and other construction projects, ensuring the highest level of safety performance. This role involves supervising project teams, including project managers, estimators, and support staff, and developing and implementing bidding strategies. The Director will oversee project planning and execution, enhance company growth and profitability through strategic planning and process improvement, and ensure timely project delivery within budget and margin. Key responsibilities include managing cash flow, cost controls, progress billing, and payables, as well as developing and managing labor plans and providing training and development opportunities for team members. This position requires maintaining accurate records and mentoring junior project managers. The company is seeking a leader to address current challenges such as a lack of dedicated leadership, inadequate project management processes, and delays in billing and change order processing. The construction team is a significant contributor to the company's revenues, with substantial growth over the past six years, necessitating high-level leadership to manage a diverse team and complex projects.

Requirements

  • Progression in the project management field within the mechanical industry
  • 10 years in a senior construction leadership role
  • Successful management of construction projects ranging from $1 million to $25 million
  • Experience managing Federal Government/Davis-Bacon projects
  • Advanced training and hands-on experience in project management
  • Leadership and mentorship of junior project managers
  • Strong background in safety-focused, customer-focused, and team-oriented project management
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills
  • Strategic planning and process improvement abilities
  • Financial management expertise, including cash flow projections and billing/collections
  • Commitment to safety and quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) programs
  • Excellent communication and customer engagement skills
  • Experience with PM systems integration and organizational support
