About The Position

Safe Streets is an evidence-based violence prevention and interruption program that works to reduce shootings and homicides in high violence areas, operated by Catholic Charities in collaboration with the Baltimore City Department of Health and the Mayor’s Office for Neighborhood Safety and Engagement. Catholic Charities of Baltimore, Safe Streets is seeking a Director of Community Violence Interventions to focus on ongoing development and integration of the Safe Streets program and other efforts focused around Community Violence Initiatives (CVI). This position is primarily focused on building capacity and resources to enhance the Safe Streets program’s results.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, Finance, Communication, Public Relations, Human Resources, or related field.
  • Experience may be substituted for education on a on a 1:1 basis.
  • Familiarity and proven successful track record, working with Baltimore City communities, CVI programming and communities served by CVI programming.
  • Familiarity with performance management principles and practices.
  • Comfort level with data tracking and reporting, ensuring accurate and insightful analysis.
  • Capable of effectively promoting programs to local media, politicians, and funders.
  • Effective written communication to prepare correspondence, promotion materials, and other items.
  • Effective oral communication, human relations, and public speaking skills
  • Ability to act with discretion, tact, and professionalism in all situations.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate activities as appropriate.
  • Requires the ability to utilize computer systems and software necessary to perform position functions.
  • Basic Windows PC, web browsing (i.e., Chrome, Internet Explorer, etc.), and Microsoft Outlook skills required.
  • Must have reliable transportation to travel on Agency business

  • Other Microsoft Office application knowledge, such as Word, Excel PowerPoint, Teams, and OneDrive desired.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures accountability to meet all Agency requirements and Cure Violence standards, as well as those specified in the annual contract from the Mayor’s Office of Neighborhoods, Safety and Engagement (MONSE).
  • Maintains effective communication with Baltimore City MONSE on site status and MONSE site evaluations.
  • Collaborates with other agencies supporting Safe Streets , such as Lifebridge, fostering productive communication.
  • Engages with other CVI partners, including parole/probation and MONSE’s re-entry staff, to facilitate effective partnerships.
  • Interfaces with City Council as necessary to address pertinent matters.
  • Builds community relationships to bring resources to the program in support of our team and the individuals we support.
  • Ensures the establishment of coalitions comprised of key stakeholders in all Safe Streets communities to implement violence prevention strategies through community mobilization.
  • Integrates the Safe Streets program into larger Agency community initiatives and programs to expand the resource network benefiting Safe Streets.
  • Works closely with all site VPCs to coordinate and maximize efforts across locations.
  • Coordinates efforts with the mental health team at Fallsway clinic.
  • Participates in Catholic Charities Advocacy efforts around CVI.
  • Oversees and supports data collection related to city-wide events and collaborates on work with re-entry clients.
  • Manages and directs work of others (2), including recruiting new hires, onboarding new staff, and conducting Check-in reviews.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
