About The Position

The Director of Community Impact plays a vital role in creating and implementing meaningful engagement opportunities that educate, inspire, and connect the community to the mission of United Way Ozarks Region. Collaborating closely with UWO leadership and volunteers, this role builds relationships, strengthens community ties, and enhances brand visibility. The director leads community engagement programs, events, and oversees the implementation of United Way’s community investment process. Signature programs include Day of Caring, United for Greatness, and Community Field Trip.

Requirements

  • At least one year of professional experience in nonprofit work, event planning, program assessment, direct service provider, or volunteer management required.
  • Ability to work independently and make informed decisions with minimal supervision.
  • Flexibility and resilience in managing stress and adapting to changing priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal and networking skills, with the ability to foster relationships across diverse groups.
  • Excellent public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Exceptional written communication and organizational abilities, with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in multi-tasking, prioritizing, and meeting overlapping deadlines.
  • Capability to manage projects from inception to completion.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Project Management, Education, or a related field preferred but not required.
  • Management or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience in event planning preferred.
  • Proficiency with software tools such as Microsoft Office Suite, WordPress, Constant Contact, and Canva preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Cultivate relationships with corporate and community volunteers, ensuring an engaged and effective volunteer base.
  • Partner with external organizations to identify new engagement opportunities and create meaningful volunteer experiences.
  • Plan and execute the Day of Caring event in partnership with the Director of Communication and Events.
  • Manage and guide community engagement programs and events, such as Community Field Trip, Day of Caring, and United for Greatness, overseeing all aspects including budgeting, communications, vendor management, staffing, analysis, and reporting.
  • Develop and maintain accurate records of sponsorships, participation, and event attendance.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Communications to request design promotional materials for community engagement activities, ensuring timely execution of web, social media, and print content.
  • Coordinate with KY3 and other partners to promote volunteer opportunities and the Volunteer Ozarks website.
  • Manage online volunteer portals (e.g., Volunteer Ozarks and GivePulse) and ensure data accuracy in Outlook and Andar, UWO’s donor management software.
  • Oversee the annual Community Investment process and communications with partner nonprofits.
