About The Position

BAMSI has been “bringing people and services together” since 1975. We are a trusted provider of integrated behavioral health and recovery services, serving diverse populations across Massachusetts - including individuals experiencing homelessness, living with mental illness or substance use disorders, and those from the LGBTQ+ community. This leadership role offers system-wide impact by overseeing and shaping the delivery of comprehensive, integrated care across a portfolio of community-based programs, directly influencing the quality of life for thousands of individuals. The Director will provide strategic leadership, collaborating with the Executive Vice President and agency leadership to drive innovation, ensure compliance, and develop new revenue streams that expand our mission. This role operates at the intersection of operations, finance, HR, and external partners, building the relationships that make integrated care possible. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Management, Human Services, or a related field
  • At least 5 years of administrative/management/supervisory experience
  • Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations, including individuals experiencing homelessness, people living with mental illness or SUD, the LGBTQ+ community, and the elderly.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities with professionalism and calm, and communicate effectively across all levels.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with budget development, diverse funding streams, grant writing, and oversight of multiple programs.
  • Familiarity with state agencies, community programs, and building effective partnerships.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for assigned community behavioral health and recovery programs, ensuring high-quality, compliant, and efficient service delivery.
  • Supervise and develop program leaders, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and professional growth.
  • Oversee program budgets, fiscal performance, and contract compliance, while exploring new revenue streams to supplement funding.
  • Build and sustain collaborative relationships with state agencies, community providers, regulatory authorities, and internal departments (HR, Finance, Quality, IT).
  • Ensure compliance with all licensing, accreditation (CARF), and state/federal regulations.
  • Identify and mitigate agency risks, and champion a seamless system of internal collaboration across all BAMSI departments.
