About The Position

As Director of Claims , you’ll provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for our homeowners claims organization. You’ll shape claims strategy, lead high‑performing teams, and ensure exceptional outcomes across complex, high‑exposure claims in a fast‑growing environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience
• 8+ years of P&C homeowners claims experience
• 4+ years of senior leadership experience managing claims leaders and large teams
• Active Florida 6‑20 Resident All Lines Adjuster License
• Deep expertise in Florida insurance law and good‑faith claims handling
• Proven success overseeing complex claims, litigation strategy, mediations, and trials
• Strong people‑leader with the ability to mentor, influence, and scale high‑performing teams
• Data‑driven, analytical approach with excellent organizational and prioritization skills
• Exceptional written, verbal, and executive-level communication skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools (Teams, SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Responsibilities

• Strategic & Operational Leadership Lead, support, and develop a multi‑layered team of managers and claims professionals
• Oversee overall claims inventory, including investigation, coverage, evaluation, resolution, and litigation management
• Set claim handling standards, performance expectations, and resolution strategies across the organization
• Direct handling of the most complex and high‑severity claims, including mediations and trials
• Litigation, Risk & Cross‑Functional Partnership Establish negotiation strategies and identify claims appropriate for trial
• Select, retain, and oversee defense counsel on litigated matters
• Partner closely with Underwriting on trends, case law, and statutory impacts to product lines
• Support underwriting decisions through policy and submission reviews, as needed
• Stay current on legislation, regulations, and industry developments impacting claims
• Talent Development & Continuous Improvement Provide executive‑level leadership, coaching, and structured performance feedback
• Drive training initiatives in partnership with Training & Auditing to elevate claims capability
• Champion best practices, analytics‑driven decision-making, and operational excellence across claims
