About The Position

Ergon, Inc. is seeking a Director of Claims to lead its enterprise claims function. This role is responsible for strategy, execution, and performance, overseeing all aspects of claims management including litigation, third-party administrator oversight, and analytics. The primary focus is on reducing the total cost of risk and improving organizational outcomes. This position acts as a key partner to business units, insurance carriers, and outside counsel, reporting directly to the VP of Risk Management. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree/Juris Doctor preferred
  • 7 to 10 years of relevant experience in claims, litigation, or insurance, preferably within a large organization or law firm
  • 3 to 5 years of leadership or supervisory experience
  • Strong understanding of casualty claims, litigation strategy, and workers compensation
  • Experience managing third party administrators or outside counsel

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the enterprise claims function, including oversight of all casualty claims and related processes
  • Direct litigation strategy in coordination with outside counsel
  • Partner with business units to manage claims, gather documentation, and support effective resolution strategies
  • Oversee third party administrators and vendors, including performance management, audits, and contract oversight
  • Develop and implement strategies to reduce claim frequency and severity, including the use of analytics and reporting
  • Manage claims-related financial processes, including reserving oversight, bill review, and reimbursements
  • Provide regular reporting and insights to senior leadership on claim trends, drivers, and opportunities for improvement
