About The Position

Jim Dooley Center for Early Learning – UR Medicine Finger Lakes Health - Geneva General Hospital is seeking an experienced and passionate Child Care Center Director to lead the daily operations of the Jim Dooley Center for Early Learning. The ideal candidate is a proven Child Care Director who understands what it takes to operate a high-quality early learning program while inspiring teachers, supporting families, maintaining regulatory compliance, and creating a nurturing environment where children can grow and thrive.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required, including coursework in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field
• Minimum of 1 year full-time teaching experience in a child care center or early childhood program
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience supervising staff
• Strong experience leading child care programs and developing teams
• Knowledge of child care licensing, accreditation, and quality standards
• Experience with budgeting and financial management
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
• Proficiency with computer systems, including Microsoft Office applications

Nice To Haves

• Master’s degree preferred
• NYS Teaching Certification preferred

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage daily child care center operations, ensuring compliance with New York State licensing regulations, NYS Department of Education requirements, and accreditation standards
• Maintain and strengthen NAEYC accreditation and quality improvement initiatives
• Develop and manage the annual operating budget, including financial planning, purchasing, and resource management
• Recruit, train, mentor, and retain a high-performing team of child care professionals
• Ensure appropriate staffing levels while balancing program quality and budget goals
• Build strong relationships with families, employees, and community partners
• Support enrollment growth through creative marketing strategies and program development
• Identify opportunities for expansion, innovation, and new revenue opportunities
• Oversee record keeping, billing, purchasing, and administrative processes
