About The Position

As the Director of Catering for the Marriott Winston Salem, you will lead the catering sales and service efforts, overseeing all aspects of event planning and execution. You’ll build strong client relationships, develop creative menus, and collaborate with hotel departments to ensure flawless events. This role requires strong leadership, sales acumen, and a passion for delivering memorable guest experiences. This exciting opportunity will be part of a total meeting space renovation later this year. As Director of Catering, your job prepares you for a progressive career in larger hotels or in more complex markets, or for a pivot into group sales and a DOS position. This position is also a good springboard to a career in food and beverage operations leadership.

Requirements

  • Eligible to work in the United States
  • Sufficient education and/or literacy needed to identify and read product labels and to communicate with guests about job-related needs.
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, kneel, and lift as required—with or without reasonable accommodations
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays if needed
  • A warm, professional demeanor that reflects HVMG’s Culture of Excellence by showing a warm smile, friendly personality, and positive attitude.
  • 3 Years of Hotel Catering Sales Experience, Required.
  • Experience selling & servicing at least 10,000 SF of Event Space, Required.

Nice To Haves

  • Hotel experience is always a plus!
  • A college degree in Business, Communications, or Hospitality, Highly Preferred.
  • Marriott Experience, Highly Preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Build excellent relationships with clients, third parties, and community organizations in order to generate catering business for the hotel.
  • Providing strategic direction to the team of catering and conference services professionals to achieve the hotel’s revenue goals and maximize revenue performance.
  • Guiding the catering and conference services team to achieve monthly revenue goals.
  • Developing action plans; proactively targeting high-value accounts; and engaging in active selling strategies.
