Urban Insight•Los Angeles, CA
•$165,000 - $205,000•Remote

About The Position

Urban Insight is hiring a Director of Business Development to own new-business growth for its digital agency. The role sells website redesigns, platform migrations, discovery and digital strategy, and multi-year support to marketing, digital, and IT leaders, with typical engagements of $150,000 to $500,000. The director is responsible both for building a self-sourced book of business and for managing every inbound opportunity from response and qualification through meetings, proposals, negotiation, and close. Each pursuit is owned by the director, with support from senior team members, technical and client strategists, delivery staff, and existing proposal templates and materials. The position also represents Urban Insight at conferences and sector events, develops partner and referral channels, and maintains accurate CRM and pipeline information. The successful candidate will join the management team as the voice of sales and business development. The position is remote within the United States, with the Los Angeles area preferred, and involves approximately four to six trips per year for conferences and client meetings.

Requirements

  • Experience selling web design and development or comparable digital services, with sufficient understanding of project scoping, delivery, and pricing to lead discovery and identify risky scopes.
  • A naturally curious, consultative approach: uncover client goals, pain points, budgets, and decision processes before proposing a solution, and build relationships into opportunities.
  • Strong proposal-writing skills, including personal experience writing successful proposals and RFP responses.
  • Organization and discipline in pipeline management and follow-through.

  • Coordinate with senior team members and technical strategists on proposal content, solution design, and oral presentations, and partner with delivery teams on estimates and scopes of work.
  • Negotiate and close deals, then set new clients up for success with the delivery team.
