About The Position

Managing construction across multiple markets isn't getting any easier. As organizations expand, renovate, rebrand, and roll out new locations, they're often left coordinating multiple contractors, managing inconsistent execution, and trying to maintain quality, timelines, and cost control across their portfolios. We're hiring a Director of Business Development (Commercial Construction Services) to help organizations simplify that complexity. You'll drive growth by connecting clients with a nationwide construction platform capable of supporting ground-up construction, design-build projects, tenant improvements, renovations, remodels, rebrands, and multi-location rollout programs. Backed by experienced construction leaders, dedicated project teams, and a broad network of subcontractors and vendors, you'll help clients simplify and scale construction programs across multiple locations, markets, and stakeholders. This is an opportunity for a strategic sales professional who enjoys building relationships, uncovering opportunities, and helping clients solve real business challenges through scalable construction solutions.

Requirements

Proven business development experience within commercial construction, general contracting, design-build, construction management, or a related industry.
A demonstrated record of developing and closing complex construction opportunities.
Experience selling to organizations with multiple locations, regional or national portfolios, or recurring construction needs.
Strong understanding of commercial construction delivery models, including ground-up construction, tenant improvements, renovations, remodels, and rollout programs.
Ability to identify client challenges and translate them into practical construction solutions and measurable business value.
Confidence building relationships with senior leaders in construction, real estate, facilities, procurement, finance, and operations.
Experience navigating RFPs, pricing discussions, contract negotiations, and multi-stakeholder decision processes.
Strong commercial judgment, communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively with estimating, construction, operations, finance, and executive leadership.
Disciplined pipeline management and CRM experience.
Ability and willingness to travel for client meetings, industry events, and site visits.

Established relationships within sectors such as retail, restaurants, financial services, healthcare, industrial, distribution, hospitality, or commercial real estate would be an asset.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute a targeted business development strategy for commercial construction services.
Identify organizations with multi-location portfolios, expansion plans, renovation needs, or national construction programs.
Originate and manage opportunities across sectors such as retail, restaurants, financial services, healthcare, industrial, distribution, hospitality, and commercial real estate.
Build relationships with construction, real estate, facilities, procurement, finance, operations, and executive decision-makers.
Lead consultative discovery to understand each client's portfolio, project pipeline, current contractor model, and operational challenges.
Position capabilities across ground-up construction, design-builds, tenant improvements, renovations, remodels, rebrands, and national rollouts.
Translate construction capabilities into clear client outcomes, including consistent execution, improved cost predictability, faster delivery, and stronger brand standards across markets.
Develop account strategies for regional and national organizations with complex, multi-stakeholder decision processes.
Partner with estimating, construction, operations, finance, and subject matter experts to develop practical, competitive solutions.
Lead proposals, presentations, RFP responses, commercial discussions, and contract negotiations.
Maintain an accurate pipeline, activity plan, and opportunity forecast using the company's CRM.
Monitor market conditions, client expansion strategies, and emerging construction opportunities.
Represent Dexterra US at industry events, client meetings, site visits, and other business development activities.
