About The Position

The Director of Business Development and Clinical Operations provides strategic leadership and advanced analytical oversight to support growth, operational performance, and financial sustainability across the University of Virginia Physicians Group. This role is responsible for identifying strategic growth opportunities, developing and implementing business plans, and producing actionable recommendations to senior leadership. The Director integrates financial modeling, operational analysis, and strategic planning to guide decision making related to clinical expansion, operational efficiency, and new business ventures. This position leads cross functional initiatives, supports executive leadership, and ensures alignment with organizational goals through market analysis, operational planning, and execution of strategic initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Healthcare Administration, Accounting, Economics, or related field required.
  • 8-10 years of relevant experience.
  • Advanced financial modeling and analytical skills.
  • Strong strategic thinking and business planning capability.
  • Knowledge of healthcare operations, reimbursement, and physician practice management.
  • Strong leadership, project management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex information clearly to executive leadership.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial reporting systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead cross functional teams to evaluate and execute strategic growth initiatives, clinical expansion opportunities, and operational improvement efforts.
  • Develop comprehensive business plans, financial models, and pro formas to support new clinical programs, services, and partnerships.
  • Identify and evaluate market trends, competitive positioning, and growth opportunities through quantitative and qualitative analysis.
  • Provide strategic recommendations to executive leadership based on financial, operational, and market analyses.
  • Support joint ventures, partnerships, and new business opportunities through financial evaluation and strategic planning.
  • Lead development of financial forecasts, business plans, and operational budgets.
  • Analyze financial, operational, and productivity metrics to identify opportunities for improvement and growth.
  • Conduct detailed financial modeling, scenario analysis, and business case development.
  • Review and interpret monthly financial performance and explain variances against budget and strategic plans.
  • Evaluate physician productivity, staffing levels, compensation models, and operational efficiency.
  • Develop pricing models, financial databases, and analytical tools to support decision making.
  • Partner with clinical, administrative, and operational leadership to improve efficiency, quality, and performance and operations.
  • Support operational planning, workflow optimization, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor operational outcomes and adjust strategies to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Lead development and maintenance of advanced data models and analytical tools.
  • Perform complex quantitative analysis to support strategic, operational, and financial decisions.
  • Develop dashboards, reports, and presentations for executive leadership.
  • Analyze internal and external data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Communicate analytical findings clearly to executive and operational leadership.
