About The Position

The Director of Audio Visual and Media Production serves as the ministry and operational leader responsible for the planning, coordination, execution, and continuous improvement of all audio-visual, livestream, media production, and digital communication functions of First Mount Zion Baptist Church (FMZBC). The Director provides strategic leadership and hands-on technical expertise to ensure the delivery of high-quality worship experiences and ministry events through excellence in audio, video, lighting, media production, livestreaming, and digital engagement. The Director leads a team of employees, volunteers, and contractors while fostering a culture of servant leadership, technical excellence, innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement. This position collaborates closely with the Senior Pastor, Church Business Administrator, ministry leaders, and external vendors to ensure all productions effectively support the mission of First Mount Zion Baptist Church and expand its ministry through both in-person and online engagement.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree from an accredited college or technical school, or Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Audio Visual Production, Broadcast Media, Film Production, Video Production, Digital Media, Media Production, Audio Engineering, Music Technology, Technical Theatre, or a related field AND Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in live production, livestreaming, audio, video, lighting, editing, or broadcast production.
  • OR High School Diploma or equivalent and Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in live production, livestreaming, audio, video, lighting, editing, or broadcast production.
  • Minimum one (1) year supervising employees, volunteers, contractors, or a combination thereof.
  • Previous experience serving in a church environment as staff, volunteer, or contractor.
  • Demonstrated Christian character consistent with the mission and values of First Mount Zion Baptist Church.
  • Support the doctrine, mission, vision, and ministry philosophy of FMZBC.
  • Successfully complete a criminal background investigation.
  • Maintain regular and dependable attendance.
  • Participate in staff meetings, leadership meetings, ministry planning sessions, and required staff development.

Responsibilities

  • Direct all technical production activities for Sunday worship services, Bible Study, Children's Church, funerals, weddings, concerts, revivals, conferences, leadership meetings, ministry activities, rehearsals, and special events.
  • Develop production schedules and run-of-show documentation.
  • Coordinate production timelines from planning through post-event evaluation.
  • Ensure production quality, consistency, and operational readiness.
  • Lead all production meetings with staff, volunteers, and contractors.
  • Maintain contingency plans for equipment failures and production interruptions.
  • Oversee Front-of-House audio, Broadcast audio, Livestream audio, Digital mixing consoles, Wireless microphone systems, In-ear monitoring, Stage monitoring, Recording systems, Playback systems, Audio routing, Audio networking, Signal flow, System tuning, Troubleshooting and diagnostics, Post-production audio editing and mastering.
  • Direct camera operations, supervise PTZ, fixed, handheld, and roaming cameras, develop camera presets, maintain shot composition standards, coordinate camera operators, operate and maintain video switchers, manage recording workflows, maintain video routing systems, and produce high-quality visual experiences for both in-person and online audiences.
  • Responsible for livestream production, livestream reliability, platform management, stream monitoring, broadcast quality, recording integrity, online engagement, streaming redundancy, and archive management, including livestream distribution through Church Website, Facebook, YouTube, and Additional ministry platforms.
  • Produce promotional videos, ministry highlight videos, testimony videos, educational content, event recaps, and announcements; coordinate interviews and develop storytelling content; edit and publish digital media.
  • Oversee worship presentations, sermon graphics, scripture slides, lyrics, announcement slides, ministry graphics, branding consistency, digital signage, and presentation templates.
  • Provide leadership for FMZBC's digital media presence by producing social media content, editing short-form video, creating promotional graphics, developing digital campaigns, publishing ministry announcements, supporting church communications, maintaining visual branding standards, and coordinating media schedules with ministry leaders.
  • Supervise Audio Visual personnel, recruit volunteers, train volunteers, develop volunteer leaders, coordinate contractors, prepare production schedules, conduct departmental meetings, assign production responsibilities, evaluate volunteer performance, maintain service continuity, and foster teamwork and servant leadership.
  • Maintain all AV systems, conduct preventative maintenance, coordinate repairs, troubleshoot equipment failures, maintain inventory, document equipment condition, recommend equipment replacement, coordinate vendor service, monitor warranties, and maintain spare equipment.
  • Coordinate AV-related technology with Information Technology representatives, support network-connected AV systems, assist with software updates, coordinate firmware upgrades, support Zoom meetings and webinars, support presentation technology, and assist with internet-related production issues.
  • Assist with departmental budget preparation, monitor departmental expenditures, evaluate equipment needs, prepare purchase recommendations, coordinate vendor quotations, submit purchase requests, recommend capital improvements, and maintain inventory controls.
  • Maintain production documentation, develop standard operating procedures, maintain production schedules, prepare departmental reports, maintain media archives, develop operational checklists, and ensure documentation remains current.
