This position works independently and exercises good judgment and discretion. The Director of Athletic Performance collaborates with administration, Champion Performance team members, coaches, and staff to serve the needs of the athletics department from an athletic development perspective. This role oversees all aspects of the Olympic Strength and Conditioning department, including safety, procedure, protocol, hiring of staff, equipment purchases, staff development, program design, weight room design, staff education, and recruitment of interns and volunteers. The Director provides instructional expertise and direction in speed, strength, and conditioning for assigned athletic programs, including pre-season, in-season, and post-season workouts. They maintain communication with administration and/or coaching staff regarding athletic development issues and work in coordination with nutrition and sports medicine staff to implement appropriate injury prevention and reconditioning programs. The Director stays abreast of emerging technologies and adheres to NCAA, Conference, and institutional rules. They also provide presentations to athletes and parents during recruiting visits and offer support, oversight, and direction for applied performance initiatives. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics or area head are expected, along with strict adherence to Liberty University policies and fostering LU's mission.
