About The Position

The Director of Application Counseling is a critical leadership role responsible for the end-to-end management, training, and quality assurance of our counseling network. Crucially, they will drive initiatives to enhance customer experience, operational efficiency, and student outcomes in the Application Counseling work.

Requirements

A bachelor’s degree from a highly selective institution; advanced degrees are a plus.
5+ years of experience in education, admissions consulting, management consulting, coaching, client services, or another high-performance, client-facing environment.
Prior people-management experience, with a demonstrated ability to coach, motivate, and hold high standards.
Strong strategic thinking skills paired with the ability to execute and operationalize ideas.
Exceptional communication skills and executive presence, particularly when working with high-net-worth families and senior stakeholders.
High emotional intelligence, sound judgment, and comfort navigating complex or high-stakes situations.
Comfort operating in a fast-growing, evolving organization where structure is actively being built.

Advanced degrees are a plus.

Responsibilities

Lead, manage, and develop counselors, including oversight of onboarding, training, performance management, and ongoing professional development.
Establish relevant management and quality control infrastructure to establish proactive management structures and support other managers in management work.
Improve training oversight and content to help new counselors develop expertise in admissions counseling content and customer experience.
Evaluate counselor work directly and troubleshoot family complaints, including review of applications from counselors who escalate their need for additional oversight.
Lead special workshops and bootcamps for AC students as well as support programs for counselors.
Work with a small caseload of specialized students.
Analyze program performance, mentor utilization, and client feedback to inform continuous improvement.
