About The Position

New York Cancer & Blood Specialists and New York Health are seeking a Director of Advanced Practice Providers to lead, support, and develop our APP teams. In this leadership role, you will collaborate with clinical and operational leaders to strengthen patient care, optimize staffing, and ensure our APPs have the training and support they need to succeed. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced Physician Assistant or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse who enjoys developing teams, improving clinical operations, and supporting high-quality specialty care.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse program and current New York State licensure.
  • At least five years of clinical experience as an APP
  • A strong understanding of the APP role in specialty practice.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with clinical and non-clinical teams.
  • Sound judgment and the ability to make timely decisions while maintaining high standards of care.
  • Initiative, adaptability, and enthusiasm for leading teams through new opportunities and challenges.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace, including Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Calendar, and experience with data reporting.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to NYCBS and NYH locations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop APP staff: Oversee performance, contribute to evaluations, and support professional development and corrective action plans when needed.
  • Optimize staffing and coverage: Partner with clinical and operational leaders to align APP staffing with provider needs, patient populations, and individual team members’ skills.
  • Coordinate scheduling: Collaborate with staffing personnel to manage APP time-off requests and maintain appropriate coverage.
  • Support recruitment and retention: Help attract and retain APP talent while promoting teamwork and a supportive practice environment.
  • Guide onboarding and training: Develop training plans with cross-functional teams, monitor new-hire progress with preceptors and providers, and address learning needs.
  • Promote continuing education: Identify opportunities for APPs to strengthen their knowledge and skills within their practice specialties.
  • Communicate practice standards: Implement and communicate policies and procedures related to APP practice and participate in regularly scheduled APP meetings.
  • Advance quality of care: Conduct clinical reviews and contribute to responses involving patient complaints, quality management concerns, and risk management requests.
  • Use data to support improvement: Participate in data collection and reporting to inform staffing, APP utilization, and clinical operations.
