About The Position

Central Valley Regional Center (CVRC) is a non-profit corporation, funded by the State of California to provide services to persons with developmental disabilities. At CVRC, our mission is to help individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and children at risk, to reach their goals. With offices in Merced, Fresno, and Visalia, we support over 35,000 individuals with developmental disabilities in the Central Valley, including Mariposa, Madera, Fresno, Tulare, Merced, and Kings counties. We accomplish this by coordinating resources and collaborating with other agencies to develop the best services for Clients and families, valuing diversity, respecting individual rights and choices, and committing to excellence, honesty, and cost effectiveness in service delivery. The Director of Administration serves as a member of the Executive Leadership Team, providing strategic leadership for administrative operations, facilities, and organizational support services across all agency locations. The Director develops leaders, aligns operational strategies with agency goals, and drives continuous improvement to ensure efficient, effective, and sustainable organizational performance. This role is responsible for strengthening the infrastructure, systems, and resources that enable the agency to fulfill its mission while supporting growth, operational excellence, and organizational effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, organizational leadership, communications, management, or a closely related field.
  • Seven (7) years of progressively responsible management and administrative leadership experience, including a minimum of three (3) years in a senior leadership role with responsibility for leading managers and/or supervisors.
  • Experience overseeing one or more of the following functional areas: administrative operations, facilities management, organizational operations, records management, business services, public administration, communications, or related support services.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing organizational strategies, leading operational improvement initiatives, managing multiple priorities across diverse functions or locations, and aligning departmental objectives with organizational goals.
  • Strong verbal, written, analytical, interpersonal, and presentation skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with executive leadership, community partners, and internal stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of facilities operations, records retention and management practices, budget administration, vendor management, and organizational effectiveness principles.
  • Must have a valid CA driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and vehicle insurance.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in business administration (MBA), public administration (MPA), organizational leadership, organizational development, strategic communications, or a closely related field.
  • Experience within a Regional Center, developmental services organization, public agency, healthcare organization, or other complex nonprofit environment.
  • Experience leading multi-site operations and administrative functions across geographically dispersed locations.
  • Professional experience in organizational development, change management, continuous improvement, workforce planning, or organizational design.
  • Experience providing executive oversight of public information, stakeholder engagement, branding, communications, marketing strategy, or community relations initiatives.
  • Public Information Officer (PIO) training, accreditation, certification, or related communications credentials.
  • Experience serving as a member of an executive leadership team and contributing to organization-wide strategic planning and decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Provides strategic leadership for administrative operations and support services across all agency locations to ensure alignment with the agency's mission, vision, values, and strategic objectives.
  • Develops and implements operational strategies, policies, systems, and initiatives that enhance organizational effectiveness, efficiency, scalability, and service delivery.
  • Evaluates organizational structures, workflows, and business processes and recommends improvements that strengthen operational performance and support agency growth.
  • Oversees agency-wide administrative functions, facilities operations, records management, office support services, and related operational programs.
  • Directs facility planning and management activities, including space utilization, workplace strategy, office relocations, renovations, expansion projects, and vendor partnerships.
  • Ensures administrative operations comply with applicable laws, regulations, agency policies, and risk management standards.
  • Oversees the agency's records management and retention programs to ensure compliance, accessibility, accuracy, and operational effectiveness.
  • Analyzes operational data and performance metrics, identifies trends and opportunities, and develops recommendations to support executive decision-making.
  • Develops, administers, and monitors departmental budgets and resources to support strategic priorities and responsible stewardship of agency assets.
  • Represents the administrative function in executive-level discussions and collaborates with organizational leaders to advance agency-wide initiatives and objectives.
  • May oversee public information, organizational communications, branding, marketing materials, and stakeholder engagement activities to support agency awareness and outreach efforts.
  • Provides leadership, direction, and oversight to managers, supervisors, and administrative support teams across multiple locations and functions.
  • Develops leadership capacity through coaching, mentoring, professional development, and succession planning initiatives.
  • Establishes performance expectations, goals, and accountability measures that align individual and departmental performance with organizational priorities.
  • Oversees performance management activities, including performance evaluations, employee development, corrective action, and recognition programs.
  • Evaluates workforce needs, staffing models, workload distribution, and resource allocation to ensure effective and efficient operations.
  • Fosters a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, continuous improvement, and exceptional customer service.
  • Promotes employee engagement, teamwork, and cross-functional collaboration to support organizational effectiveness and achievement of agency goals.
