About The Position

Planned Parenthood of Maryland (PPM) is seeking a strategic and analytical Director of Accounting to lead financial operations. This role involves managing day-to-day fiscal operations, ensuring resource optimization to continue delivering affordable, high-quality reproductive healthcare. The Director will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and will be responsible for financial reporting and the accounting team, including monthly close, cash management, and serving as a strategic partner to recommend financial policy advancements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting responsibility.
• Extensive knowledge of accounting practices, tax laws, and financial regulations.
• Advanced computer skills, including experience with financial accounting software.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in non-profit and/or healthcare accounting is highly preferred.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is preferred.
• Experience with MIP and Sage Intacct preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and set high standards for the accounting team, fostering professional growth, strong performance, and interdepartmental collaboration.
• Oversee day-to-day fiscal operations, including cash management, weekly payables, wire transfers, and health center cash handling procedures.
• Prepare accurate, timely monthly financial statements and analyze results to inform leadership decisions.
• Coordinate annual audits, oversee accurate tax filings, and ensure proper accounting treatment and compliance for restricted contributions.
