About The Position

Our client is seeking a Director of Accounting & Shared Services to lead a multi-location shared services organization of over 100 employees and seven direct reports. This is a highly visible role for a strategic finance and accounting leader with a strong track record of transformation. In addition to overseeing core accounting and shared services functions, this individual will modernize operations through process automation, digitalization, systems improvement, and organizational change. The ideal candidate combines strong accounting expertise with the ability to lead complex transformation initiatives and partner across Finance, Tax, Operations, IT, and other business functions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in accounting, finance, shared services, or related business functions.
  • Strong finance and accounting foundation, including accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, compliance, and close processes.
  • Proven experience leading large-scale finance transformation or organizational improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrated success with process automation, digitalization, and/or finance technology initiatives.
  • Experience leading organizational change associated with new technologies and ways of working.
  • Proven leadership of large, multi-functional teams within a complex, matrixed organization.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration, communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a multi-location shared services organization of approximately 150 employees.
  • Provide strategic direction, coaching, and performance management to develop leaders and foster a high-performance culture.
  • Oversee general ledger, payroll, benefits accounting, customer financial services, collections, cash applications, and regional accounting.
  • Lead finance transformation initiatives that modernize processes, improve service delivery, and create scalable operations.
  • Drive automation and digitalization initiatives that improve efficiency, strengthen controls, reduce risk, and enhance scalability.
  • Lead organizational change associated with new technologies, processes, capabilities, and ways of working.
  • Partner across Finance, Tax, Operations, IT, and business units to execute complex transformation programs.
  • Ensure compliance with SOX, tax requirements, internal controls, and audit standards.
  • Establish KPIs and operational metrics to promote accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Standardize processes and ensure clear documentation of procedures, roles, responsibilities, and controls.
