About The Position

This job assumes responsibility for strategic planning, direction and overall accountability for the Gayle and Tom Benson Cancer Center, part of the Ochsner MD Anderson Cancer Center. The Director independently makes decisions that could seriously affect the overall division and/or the organization's financial objectives, performance objectives and strategic results. This role involves developing and being accountable for the budget for the department or multiple functional areas, and working in partnership with pre-service, corporate revenue integrity, and others to ensure proper financial clearance of all patients.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent with 9 years related health care experience including 3 years of supervision or management experience
  • OR Bachelor's degree with 5 years of related healthcare experience including 2 years of supervision or management experience.
  • Computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
  • Proficiency with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Financial acumen in order to manage within a budget and understand financial statements sufficient to analyze trends and make recommendations.
  • Ability to travel throughout and between facilities.
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule (e.g., more than 8 hours a day).

  • Experience in an ambulatory setting

Responsibilities

  • Develop and be accountable for budget for department or multiple functional areas.
  • Work in partnership with pre-service, corporate revenue integrity and others to ensure proper financial clearance of all patients.
  • Strive to continuously improve all aspects of the business operation through quality improvement initiatives.
  • Assume responsibility for the determination of appropriate staffing levels and the interviewing, hiring, and performance review of employees.
  • Support division goals to provide cutting edge services to meet the organization’s mission and goals.
  • Effectively manage budget(s) and continually monitor key cost areas.
  • Recommend to Senior Management long-range plans which support the mission.
  • Develop and revise organizational structures to meet functional needs and ensures communication, reporting, and incentives align people and processes.
  • Remain knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility and ensures compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
