About The Position

In collaboration with the Hospital Chief Executive, assures mission, goals and strategy of PHS are being met via planning, direction, oversight and coordination of operational, financial, regulatory, quality and personnel activities. Directly responsible for all nursing operations at the regional hospital, to include administrative and clinical, within designated departments. As directed by the Hospital Chief Executive, participates in meetings related to assigned departments. Serves as a direct contact to staff to identify and enable their patient care needs and staffing requirements. Participates in organizational nursing management groups, enables nursing initiatives within nursing and facilitates standardization of nursing practices in the department In conjunction with the Chief Nursing Officer monitors standards, evidence-based practice and assures quality care is delivered to all patients. Interacts and coordinates activities with a variety of health care agents, regulatory agencies, and vendors. Provides direct supervision of designated leaders and staff Facilitates effective communication between administration, staff, physicians, other departments, patients, families and the general public. Maintains effective relationships with other departments. Participates in conflict resolution as necessary and acts as an effective problem solver. Under the guidance of the Hospital Chief Executive, plans, directs and monitors the financial activities of designated departments to meet the organizational goals and initiatives. This includes budget planning in the annual rhythm, budget execution and capital allocation management, to include rolling capital plan for patient monitoring equipment or other capital acquisitions. Assists with the development of business plans to maintain or grow operational opportunities. Directs and oversees labor productivity management. Plans and directs the human resource activities of designated departments including all phases of personnel management. Coach and mentor for professional development of all staff. Empowers professional staff through delegation of responsibility, authority and accountability. In conjunction with the Chief Nursing Officer, uses process improvement methods to create safe, effective and efficient processes and ensure standardization within the department. Seeks continuous improvement of the department. Clinical practice knowledge: Understands nursing and care processes supporting clinical care practice in service areas and works shifts as needed. Requirements

  • Bachelors degree plus 2 years of additional experience
  • State of New Mexico Nursing License required
