AP seeks a strategic, collaborative and highly skilled communications professional to serve as Director of Newsroom Communications. Reporting to the Chief Communications Officer, this person will shape how AP communicates about its newsroom internally and externally, strengthening the organization and public's understanding of AP’s journalism, mission, standards and newsroom priorities among staff, media, customers, partners and other key audiences. The Director will develop global communications strategies and materials that strengthen employee connection, elevate distinctive AP journalism, support newsroom leaders and help prepare the organization for sensitive or high-profile issues. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of the news industry and is both a strategist and a hands-on operator: someone who can advise senior newsroom leaders, write staff notes with precision, pitch media, support internal programming, and move quickly in a demanding global news environment. This position is part of AP’s Corporate Communications team and will work closely with newsroom leadership, journalists, communications colleagues and other partners across the organization.
