About The Position

The Director, New Accounts and Documentation sets strategic direction, ensuring departments meet service and professionalism standards, and aligns priorities with firm-wide initiatives. The incumbent acts as a senior liaison between Operations and business leadership, supporting internal and external customers across business lines while managing regulatory and organizational risks. Key competencies include strategic knowledge of RBC Canada Wealth Management, industry standards expertise, cross-functional relationship management, and process, control and risk management.

Requirements

  • Operations experience with risk and control discipline
  • 4-year degree from an accredited university
  • 7+ years of securities or banking experience
  • 7+ years demonstrated and sound managerial experience leading and managing large teams
  • Fully proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Advanced problem identification, analytical and resolution skills required to support escalated issue resolution and/or oversight requirements associated with exception-based complex processes

  • Securities or Financial Services Industry regulatory and audit experience
  • Canadian Securities Course or Retail Securities Certification
  • PDO or Director and Executive Certification

Responsibilities

  • Lead department managers to ensure performance meets company and industry standards for service, innovation, and professionalism. Establish individual goals, drive performance management, and reward strong performance.
  • Oversee complex, specialized department deliverables and processes to ensure quality standards, effective controls, risk mitigation, and regulatory compliance across all departments.
  • Monitor implementation of new processes and procedures to increase timeliness, reduce expenses, and improve service. Analyze existing processes, identify improvements, and keep abreast of industry regulations and technologies.
  • Serve as senior-level advisor for decision-making across all groups within scope. Act as point of escalation for matters unresolved by managers and as senior Operations contact to business lines.
  • Establish and maintain credible relationships with clients, internal business lines, and external vendors. Solicit, respond to, and act on feedback professionally to ensure superior service.
  • Monitor departmental risk, provide leadership on risk mitigation strategies, and ensure all administrative and operations functions comply with business standards, industry, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Manage department budget, financial forecasts, staffing models, and metric tracking.
  • Ensure employees understand RBC vision and targeted behaviors. Support career development and reinforce alignment with RBC goals.
  • Leverage unit, department, and enterprise-wide teams to develop better solutions and foster a cross-enterprise mindset.
  • Accept and execute change while supporting employees through transitions and keeping them focused on business priorities.
