About The Position

The Geisinger Neuroscience Institute is seeking a Director of Neurosurgery at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton, Pennsylvania, to provide clinical and strategic leadership for neurosurgical services. This leadership opportunity is intended for a fellowship-trained neurosurgeon specializing in minimally invasive, complex, and deformity spine surgery, with a commitment to clinical excellence, program growth, quality improvement, innovation, and developing physicians and advanced practitioners. The Director will partner with institute, hospital, and operational leadership to advance the GCMC neurosurgery program and work alongside the Department Chair to shape clinical strategy, expand patient access, strengthen regional referral relationships, and improve quality. Surgeons have established infrastructure and workflows for anterior, lateral, and posterior spine approaches. The program provides comprehensive neurosurgical care across Northeast Pennsylvania, with a strong spine surgery foundation and access to the broader clinical capabilities of the Geisinger Neuroscience Institute. The incoming Director will help define clinical priorities, improve coordination across specialties, and support high-quality care close to home when clinically appropriate. The Director will have access to innovative care models, a 20-year clinical data warehouse, an established Epic electronic medical record platform, and a population genomics program. The program is supported by multiple hybrid operating rooms and comprehensive stroke services.
