About The Position

Once a part of Kenrick-Glennon Seminary's campus, the Cardinal Rigali Center in Shrewsbury, MO is today the headquarters and curia (governing body) for the Archdiocese of St. Louis. Job Summary Full-Time Director of Music at Assumption Catholic Church, Mattese is seeking a Full-Time Director of Music that is proficient with the Organ, Piano and Voice is highly desired. The ideal candidate for this role must be capable of being the primary provider of musical accompaniment and support for parish and school liturgies, including funerals, weddings and other special occasions. Directs Cantors and Choirs (adult and youth).

Requirements

  • A practicing Catholic with a deep commitment to the Catholic faith.
  • At least three years of ministerial experience in a pastoral setting, specifically in liturgical music ministry.
  • Experience leading and working with cantors, choirs, and musicians of all ages.
  • Proficiency in using technology and multimedia tools for communication and worship enhancement.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with clergy, staff, and parishioners to create an enriching liturgical music experience.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficient with the Organ, Piano and Voice is highly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and accompany liturgical music during Masses, sacramental celebrations, and other liturgical events.
  • Work with cantors, choirs, students, and other musicians of varying ages and skill levels to foster collaboration and excellence in music ministry.
  • Select and organize music for liturgies, incorporating both traditional and contemporary liturgical music.
  • Provide musical training and direction to cantors, choirs, and instrumentalists, ensuring the effective preparation of music for liturgies.
  • Utilize technology and multimedia tools to enhance the musical experience and support liturgical events.
  • Collaborate with other parish staff, particularly with clergy, to ensure that music complements the spiritual goals of the parish.
  • Assist with the recruitment and development of musicians within the parish community.
