Our focus on customer-centric innovation enables us to develop products that build loyalty and repeat business. We partner closely with teams across Expedia Group to drive growth and achieve results for our customers and the company. At Expedia Group, we are passionate about creating exceptional traveler and partner experiences through data-driven insights. Our User Experience Research team plays a critical role in shaping the future of global travel by uncovering what matters most to our customers. We are looking for a Director of Mixed Methods UX Research to lead the vision, strategy, and execution of mixed-methods research across our portfolio of products. This is an opportunity to influence decisions at scale and elevate the rigor and impact of research across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Sociology, a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 10+ years of relevant professional UX research experience, including both qualitative and quantitative methods.
  • Proven leadership in designing and delivering research for complex products and services at scale, with demonstrated domain expertise.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, set research strategy, and influence product direction across multiple business units or domains.
  • Familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows and applying AI/ML concepts to real world products.
  • Experience in cross-cultural research or globalization of products and brands.

  • Advanced degree in a relevant field.
  • Robust knowledge and expertise connecting attitudinal and behavioral data to uncover deep customer needs and inform brand positioning.
  • Familiarity with brand tracking, market segmentation, and affinity modeling, either hands on or working in collaboration.
  • Experience operating global research programs at scale and architecting robust research frameworks that drive business impact.
  • Expertise in integrating AI/ML-enabled research methodologies and safely incorporating new technologies into research practice.
  • History of driving operational excellence and data-driven decision making in ambiguous, fast-paced environments.
  • Demonstrated experience taking products from concept to scaled adoption.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute large-scale, mixed-methods user experience (UX) research initiatives to inform product vision, strategy, and design decisions across multiple brands.
  • Develop and drive research roadmaps, ensuring alignment between business goals, customer needs, and technical feasibility.
  • Mentor, inspire, and manage a team of UX researchers from both Qualitative and Mixed Methods backgrounds, fostering a culture of evidence-based decision making and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners, synthesizing qualitative and quantitative insights to shape product development and innovation.
  • Champion best practices for integrating AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows and applying AI/ML concepts to real world products.
  • Advocate for the voice of the customer at the organizational level, ensuring that UX research impacts product strategy and execution.
  • Represent the Research organization internally and externally, contributing thought leadership to the industry.
