About The Position

The Information Technology group delivers secure, reliable technology solutions that enable DTCC to be the trusted infrastructure of the global capital markets. The team delivers high-quality information through activities that include development of essential, building infrastructure capabilities to meet client needs and implementing data standards and governance. At DTCC, your work will directly influence the resilience, scalability, and modernization of the infrastructure that powers the global financial markets. As Director, Middleware Solution Architecture & Design, you will serve as the strategic bridge between Middleware Infrastructure Engineering and Enterprise Technology Architecture (ITA), shaping the future-state architecture of DTCC's middleware ecosystem and driving initiatives that support cloud adoption, application modernization, API enablement, and event-driven architecture. In this highly visible leadership role, you will partner with senior technology leaders across Architecture, Infrastructure Engineering, Cybersecurity, Application Development, and Business Technology teams to establish architectural direction, guide enterprise-wide technology decisions, and ensure middleware solutions are scalable, secure, resilient, and aligned with DTCC's long-term technology strategy. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 12+ years of experience in enterprise architecture, middleware engineering, infrastructure engineering, systems design, or related disciplines.
  • Deep expertise in middleware technologies, messaging systems, integration platforms, APIs, identity services, and distributed architectures.
  • Proven success leading large-scale architecture and modernization initiatives in complex enterprise environments.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise integration patterns, messaging architectures, API enablement, authentication technologies, and cloud transformation strategies.
  • Experience leading architecture governance, design reviews, and executive-level technology discussions.
  • Exceptional communication, influence, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into scalable, resilient technology solutions.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives involving Architecture, Engineering, Cybersecurity, Operations, and Business teams.

Nice To Haves

  • AWS and cloud-native architecture experience.
  • Kubernetes, OpenShift, EKS, ECS, or container platform expertise.
  • Experience designing and supporting hybrid cloud environments.
  • Infrastructure-as-Code, automation, and DevOps practices.
  • Experience with observability, resiliency engineering, and platform modernization.
  • Financial Services, Capital Markets, FinTech, or other highly regulated industry experience.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary liaison between Middleware Infrastructure Engineering and Enterprise Technology Architecture (ITA).
  • Define and drive middleware architecture strategy, standards, reference architectures, and technology roadmaps.
  • Provide architectural leadership for modernization, cloud transformation, integration, and digital platform initiatives.
  • Ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture principles, security requirements, resiliency standards, and regulatory expectations.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and establish future-state architecture patterns that improve scalability, agility, and operational efficiency.
  • Lead architecture reviews and design governance for enterprise middleware initiatives.
  • Translate complex business and technical requirements into scalable, secure, and supportable solutions.
  • Evaluate architectural tradeoffs and recommend approaches that optimize reliability, maintainability, performance, and operational readiness.
  • Drive standardization, reuse, and adoption of enterprise middleware patterns and best practices.
  • Ensure architecture decisions are thoroughly vetted, documented, and positioned for long-term success.
  • Partner with business leaders, architects, engineering teams, cybersecurity, and infrastructure organizations to align priorities and solution direction.
  • Facilitate architecture reviews and cross-functional design discussions.
  • Build consensus across diverse stakeholder groups while balancing strategic, operational, and delivery priorities.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor, bridging architecture strategy and engineering execution.
  • Drive cloud transformation, API enablement, integration modernization, and event-driven architecture initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify platforms, reduce technical debt, and improve service delivery.
  • Ensure solutions address observability, resiliency, security, disaster recovery, scalability, and supportability requirements.
  • Partner with engineering teams to ensure architecture strategies can be effectively implemented and operated in production environments.
